Palazzo Manfredi - Relais & Chateaux, Rome
Excellent hotel, helpful staff, A+ location
PROS -Location, location, location -Hotel is stylish and clean -Complimentary drink upon arrival -Complimentary champagne, petite desserts, sparkling water, and welcome note in room -Acqua di Parma brand shampoo, conditioner, body wash, & lotion -Nice views of city -Extremely helpful and proactive staff---can’t stress this enough (help w/directions without guest having to ask, promptly call taxis & print vouchers/documents for guests) -Plush bed and covers, extra blanket at foot of bed if needed -Aroma (hotel’s restaurant) has amazing view of Colosseum & surrounding landmarks, restaurant onsite -Small elevator -Nice bath CONS (no real ‘bad ones’) -Thin walls, hear doors close late night and people talk (brief spurts of noise) -Air conditioning managed in lobby, not in room, so temperature might not be to your liking. They told us to call the front desk if we need any adjustments. -My wife asked restaurant to make her vegetarian meals. They accommodated but also brought her a complimentary dish that was made of fish. She was surprised when she tasted it. It wasn’t a big deal, but attention to dietary preferences is always appreciated. -Wifi was weaker than I expected. I could not upload three photos to Facebook, so I used my cell phone's data/roaming. I would stay here again, and I recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great experience. As you can see, the cons were minor inconveniences—not anything terribly bad.

Book this Hotel. Thank me later.
The photos don't lie. This Hotel is located directly across the street from the Colosseum and practically built over the Ludus Magnus or "The Great Gladiatorial Training School." Imagine taking a shower and looking out your window to see the Colosseum. In addition to the location the Hotel had the greatest staff from all our stays while in Italy. Make sure to make reservations at the rooftop Aroma Restaurant where it's usually fully booked. Take advantage of the restaurants sommelier (wine steward) who will perfectly pair a wine with your choice of meal. We had the tasting menu and he was able to suggest a wine based on where we were in our 7 course meal. Not only is the food amazing but you won't beat the view!
