Profile: Estoril
Estoril has long drawn seafarers, but during World War II the foreign arrivals became much more glamorous. Attracted by Portuguese neutrality and the warm climate, Kings Umberto II of Italy and Carol II of Romania made Estoril their home, and it retains a sense of majesty to the present day.
James Bond is also strongly connected to Estoril—its casino was the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale, while the Hotel Palacio appeared on screen in the 007 movie from 1969, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Estoril is about 30 minutes from central Lisbon, by rail or car.

Perfect stay in a cosy hotel
I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very cosy and the rooms are very big (mine was). The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me with everything I needed and they always had a smile on the face. The location is perfect and all in all I enjoyed it so much and would return back to this hotel again. Perfect atmosphere.

We had a very short stay of one night leaving before breakfast the next morning so we could not experience the service or facilities properly. The room on the top floor was lovely and with balcony. The pool was very nice area to relax .

Being an American, my wife needed help with various things and all the people, (especially two ladies at the front desk and the maid service) were extremely helpful and competent. The breakfast buffet was excellent, especially the fresh fruit. An ideal location. The hotel room was very comfortable and relaxing and I had a very scenic view of the area and ocean. Also, having a leg injury, the location of the parking lot elevator was extremely convenient and helpful for me to gain entrance to my room. Thank for a very enjoyable stay! We definitely will recommend and potentially visit this hotel again!
