Room was great and obviously updated. Nice bed, great large ring light mirror and clean. Halls,stairs and outside areas including balconies really ruin what theyve done in rooms. I hope they continue to renovate quickly. Id love to leave a good review of all next time

This place was only ok. CONS: The room with an “ocean view” was barely an ocean view, could barely see the water since you’re so far from the water. Room was decent, but run down. Not totally clean, some damage, and the wifi was awful the entire time. Parking lot was dirty with trash and other debris all over. Continental breakfast was awful, eggs were bad, hardly any options. Water pressure was inconsistent and the water fluctuated between boiling hot and freezing cold in seconds. PROS: Close to Hearst Castle Close to elephant seal vista Close to Cambria Easy drive to Big Sur Short drive to SLO (San Luis Obispo) Overall: Place would be good in a pinch, but seek alternative options if you’re looking for any amount of amenities.

Needs work
The hotel is listed as a Best Western but I saw no indication it actually is a BW. Nothing on any signs at all. The place has lots of potential because it seems to have been updated but I don’t think they have any staff maintaining the property. The room was reasonably clean but the outside is sketchy. Overflowing trash, trash in the parking lot, weeds growing on steps and really dirty hallways. The ice machine appeared out of order with towels wadded up under it. The shower head had a leak and the new vinyl floor had popped up along a seam. I got a cup of coffee in the morning and it was super diluted. Honestly I wouldn’t eat anything there based on the level of cleanliness of the public spaces. Also one of my neighbors was smoking pot and I could smell it in my room. It really wouldn’t take much to make the place nice. A groundskeeper and more cleaning maybe.
