Good for hospital stays
This hotel is perfect if you need to be at the Virginia Mason hospital early in the morning the following day. It's an old building which made it feel a bit run down, and the pillows were not varied on type (so I didn't sleep that well) but for my purposes, I was thankful to have something close to Virginia Mason hospital

Nice stay but with with caveats.
Loved the neighborhood but if you can’t walk steep hills, may not work for you. Nice staff. Dated building. No towels in room. Fitted sheets came off bed every night. Bring your own Kuerig coffee, they provide the minimum. Slow and crowded elevators. We had a great time but you might not if stuff like this bugs you. It is very much a hospital setting (part of Virginia Mason) so this could be a consideration.

On our way to a cruise
Our room was clean just very outdated. The bed was not very comfortable. I would not stay there again unless it was out last resort.

rooms smell like cigarette smoke
This is an older hotel, and somewhat run-down, but that doesn't bother me. The room was clean in appearance, but the room smelled like cigarette smoke smoke. The woman at the front-desk insisted that the hotel was fully booked and she could not find another room for me. After a few minutes of pushback, she found another room for me. It also smelled like smoke. I found another hotel on a competing website a 10 minute walk away and stayed there instead. Getting a refund was a huge PITA: the hotel kept insisting that the only person who could authorize a refund was one of their managers, who was conveniently never around, and the hotels.com customer service reps I talked to kept saying that they had no choice but to wait for this phantom, likely non-existent hotel-manager's approval. I eventually asked to speak to a hotels.com customer-service manager, and he was able to give me a refund. Overall, this was a terrible experience, not only for this hotel in particular, but also with hotels.com. This was my first time using hotels.com and I was very disappointed to learn that, when it comes to dealing with issues like this, their approach does not put customers first.
