    Pros & Cons...
Pros: Awesome views of the towers-esp. @ night & Lake MI in the day! Desk clerks were friendly, but not knowledgeable about the city. Clean & comfy room w/coffee maker/coffee. Adequate Grab & go breakfast in the small lounge. Comfy bathrobes! Cons: Worn, dated furniture & old blinds were hard to lower @ night to keep out the tower lights. Expensive mini-bar, very limited selection. Toilet didn't flush-prompt to respond & fix it once I finally got someone on the phone but Hard to get someone to answer the phone. Coffee maker needed cleaning. Convoluted hotel access via a door buzz-in in the outer part of the indoor garage into the inner (reserved) part. Had to wait 8 min. for a garage worker to show up to know how to access. Door leads to an indoor reserved part of garage & elevator to 1st floor Hotel lobby then you take another elevator to the 39th floor & another to the 40th floor. I was glad I read the reviews pointing out the convoluted access before getting there! Everything in the Financial District closes @ 6 pm.even on Friday night. Hotel should arrange for guests to have in & out parking privileges. There was a huge strange interesting looking multi-colored bug in the 3rd floor women's restroom-hotel night manager sent bldg. maintenance (which is separate from hotel staff) to check it out. If you like quiet, clean comfy rooms with great views & don't mind being isolated from the nightlife & restaurants, and close to the Chi. Stock Exchange, you'll love the hotel!

Great city views from the 40th floor!
This hotel is on the 40th floor of an office bldg. Unlike most hotels that have a clearly marked entrance, there is only a very small sign outside. We drove up to the bldg address and were a bit confused until we called the hotel. There aren't any bellhops or valet parking. You check in at the security desk in the lobby of the bldg. The self-parking is a public garage under the bldg. When I called the desk from the street, we were told to leave our car at the curb with the flashers on & take our luggage to the security desk. Then we went to park the car. The self-parking garage is $38/day. From our parking space, we took the garage elevator up to the top level of the garage, then we had to walk down a ramp to a door with an intercom, push the button, explain we were hotel guests, then thru the door we came to an executive parking area, walked to another elevator to go up to the building lobby. We stayed 3 nights, so we just had to do this upon arrival and departure, so not that big of a deal but not good if you want to come & go several times. You take the bldg elevator to the 39th floor & change to another elevator to go to the 40th floor. All a bit unusual but our room was very nice. Location was good for us because we were seeing Hamilton & Aladdin and both theatres were an easy walk. Inside the loop, next to LaSalle Street Station, easy access from I-290. We didn't use the fitness center or pool but they looked nice.

    Poor 2.0
    Horrible anniversary
The sheets were stained with black marks and yellow spots. Pillow case also had black marks. There were finger prints all over the head board. The curtains didn’t close all the way so I was awakened by the sunlight at 6am. Lastly there was no one answering the phone at the desk I had to drive in circles for about 15 minutes until someone answered so I could find out how to park because the doors to the parking garage were closed.

    Good 6.0
Great view-nice hotel but needs staff training
finding the hotel was not that bad as many have said before, it's in the same building as the Stock Exchange and the Everest restaurant (most folks can give directions to those locations). Checking into the hotel, the check in person wasn't at the desk so they had to call them down but didn't take long. Overall the hotel room was nice and the view was great (could have been better based on other views from rooms I've seen online). Breakfast on the weekends consists of old danish/muffins, cereal, coffee, milk and juice. Issues with the hotel: (1) Upon check in there was a package of salami and a 3/4 drank OJ in the fridge left in the room. (2) I requested a USA today for my room upon check in and never got one. (3) The safe in the room was locked and when i called to get it opened the lady at the front desk said she would come up and open it but never did after 2 attempts to call them,I gave up. (4) Spa/Fitness area you have to go all the way down to the lobby (take 2 elevators and transfer) then take a 3rd elevator up to the 3rd floor to use the spa/fitness area, which was not as nice/clean as I was hoping the reviews had made them out to be. (5) Staff was nice when I talked to them but didn't get much in the way of followup/thru in getting what i had requested

    Exceptional 10.0
Great value in a great location
We loved the small size of the Buckingham and felt that it really allowed the staff to provide us with excellent customer service. Prior to our stay, they reached out to find out when and how (car, train, etc) we'd be arriving at the hotel. I responded and asked a couple of other questions, and the staff were so responsive, including giving me the lowdown on public transportation and recommendations for restaurants that went beyond just copying and pasting a standard list of recommendations and descriptions - Julianne even included a recommendation for a place that she goes with her family for special occasions. When we arrived at the hotel, we were glad to have gotten specific instructions for parking. It felt like kind of a maze and parking spots were tight. We were impressed with the security of the garage though. The check-in process was smooth and staff did a great job of showing us how to use the fob to get through the security gates (and use the elevator after hours). From there we rode the elevator to the 39th floor, where we took a transfer elevator to the 40th floor. We had a pretty great view of the city and the lake. There was some general city noise as well as noise from the train, but not too loud. The room was comfortable, if a bit more dated than I expected, but overall I felt it was an excellent value. We loved having access to the athletic club as well!
