high sierra disappointment
pillow are horrible - old and worn out feather with no support - asked daily for firmer pillows and always would tell us they would and then never did. maintenance issues - maintenance knocked all of our items and our travel kits in the bathroom on the floor and left them.. furniture was hard and uncomfortable. hotel was overly hot and was not changed after repeated requests - had to keep windows open. was in a slightly below average state of maintenance. tv in bedroom did not get half the channels (the ones I wanted to watch of course) and the free wifi is so slow its unusable good room layout and great views though. the rate was good on the room so the old adage of getting what you pay for applies.

Great view, convenient to Heavenly lift
Drove up for a long weekend ski trip. This hotel has a fabulous view and is a short shuttle bus ride away from the Stagecoach lift to Heavenly (the monorail was not working). Our room had a comfortable bed (adjustable firmness!) and added bonus of kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, dishes, and cutlery. There's a ski rental shop among the hotel buildings. My one complaint is that the room was a bit too warm and the thermostat didn't seem to actually adjust the temperature. Also, our room was one of those with a door connecting to an adjoining room so it could be made into a suite, and the people next door were extremely loud, fighting and running a clothes dryer late at night. So in rooms with a connecting door, noisy neighbors can be an issue, but that couple was really unusually loud (thankfully they checked out and we could barely hear the next family that occupied that room). Also, fair warning, there isn't really anywhere to eat nearby, you have to drive 15 min down to Stateline or South Lake Tahoe (worth it for the convenience to the lift and relatively low price, in my opinion).

At the top of the hill
The location, for skiing/boarding, is ideal. The shuttle service is extremely convenient and well run; with the exception of them not putting chains on the tires of their shuttles so had to wait while some slid down the mountain. The rooms are average interiors; you're paying $$$ for the location at the very top of the hill. Breakfast served in the main hotel area and they have vegetarian and gluten free items! Unfortunately they do NOT have battery backup or solar...and the power goes out almost daily. Seriously. So the backup generators kick-in but smell terrible!!! If you have a rental car; you might or might not get a spot in the garage when you arrive. If you're like us, we got back from dinner around 9:30pm with no spots and had to park in the dark, on the side of the mountain and walk up to our tower. If you don't have a rental car...beware...Uber charges the higher rate since they're located at the top. Talking $400+ to get picked up and taken to the airport. Local cab companies will charge you $200.

Lots of snow, so could not enjoy anything. The people next door sounded like they were in our room. Paper thin walls. Did not get much sleep. Otherwise, the room was very spacious and nice.

Gorgeous property, but staff needs to be trained C
The location and property are gorgeous and in great condition. The line for reception is always long. When we arrived, the elevator for our building was not working, the receptionist didn't mention it. Our room wasnt ready so we had to come back later for our keys. The following receptionist didn't mention the elevator issue either, which was a HUGE problem given my step father's mobility. After some back and forth, she changed our room, but made zero effort to find a porter for us simply stating: "one should be out there". The manager on duty, Michael, was the only saving grace. He came out in his suit to help us push our luggage cart in the snow. The suite was AMAZING and fully furnished. However, besides Michael and the staff at the breakfast café, no one else was helpful.
