Certainly not a 5 star hotel in my opinion.
Prior to arrival we had asked for a quiet room, on arrival we were shown to a nice enough room but which overlooked 2 junctions and being in a city the traffic was constant. We asked to be moved and in the morning where shown a couple of other rooms one of which they needed an additional 70 euros per night, the other option was a room at the back of the hotel which was meant to cater for the disabled. This was a very tired, old room which in my opinion lacked any suggestion that we were staying a 5 star hotel but it was either this room at the back with a view over looking the residential flats or back to our originally allocated room right next to two main roads. The pool was exactly that, a pool, our hot tub is bigger. Breakfast was completely overrated and cost 30 euros each. Scramble egg was the packet stuff, greasy bacon and a selection of fruits which were hardly fresh produce of the morning. No toast and although there were only 2 other couples in the breakfast lounge, we had to seek attention from the staff to order beverages. The hotels only saving grace where the porters, who went out of their way to assist but then kept apologising for the way we had been treated in regards to our room move. During our stay we found some fantastic hotels who really were 5 star, perhaps the Casa Fuster needs to see what being a 5 star actually entails. Our bill for 4 nights (paying for just 1 breakfast) was in excess of 1300 euros. Certainly not worth it and very, very disappointing

    Exceptional 10.0
Very beautiful hotel & attentive staff
I stayed here with my 9 year old son for a week. They were incredibly attentive and gracious. Due to other reviews (and because I am a light sleeper) I specifically requested a quiet room not facing the street. I stayed on the first floor, and although this meant my balcony had no view (a wall) it was so incredibly quiet and peaceful at night, I was able to sleep just fine. The hotel itself is a work of art, from the furniture in the common areas to the closet handles in our room. We had everything we could need in the bathrooms/room and if we wanted something, all we had to do was ring the front desk. The food at the Galaxo was incredible, as well as the attention and service. They even accommodated my picky eater. Service on the terrace was hit or miss, sometimes they were good, others not so much. It was odd, like the staff on the terrace was completely different than the rest of the hotel (their attitude, attention, etc. was off). Beautiful views though! My feedback in other areas are: the bathtub was so high, it was difficult to get in. I struggled, and my poor son fell and hit his head trying to get out of such a high tub. The shower head was ill-placed and too low, even for a 5'1 person like me. Breakfast was really overpriced - like, way over priced. I expected to pay a lot for breakfast in this hotel, but it was exorbitant. It is a shame since it was convenient to eat breakfast there, but after two days we stopped and found breakfast elsewhere.

    Very Good 8.0
    Luxury meets charm
The hotel is well situated near shopping (all the luxury brands), art (Casa Batllo is a short walk away), and convenience (several small cafes and tapa bars nearby). The hotel decor is pleasing, though the lighting in the hallways is slightly dimmer than desired. The check-in process is expedient, and the hotel staff very quickly and efficiently addressed any needs I had: the coffee machine did not function in my room and the technician arrived within 15 minutes to resolve. The room I had overlooked the Passeig de Gracia and the view was quite pleasant (though be warned that this does mean there will be light street noise throughout the night, so ask for ear plugs if needed). The staff also did a excellent job preparing the room for sleep while you are out at dinner. The only drawbacks I had of the experiences were that the air conditioning in the room did not appear sufficient to overcome the heat from the exterior during the day (the windows/balcony doors do not appear to be double-paned or well sealed) and that the bathtub/shower was rather difficult to get out of due to the height.

    Exceptional 10.0
For two girls traveling alone to Barcelona, I could not have found a better hotel to stay in. The staff was beyond kind and extremely helpful in every aspect. Walking out of your hotel, you feel as though you are walking down a more beautiful version of 5th avenue. With the best shops around, the restaurants and sights are all within walking distance. The rooftop itself was a sight to see. The room was very nice. The bathrooms were slightly outdated, but yet still charming. The bar downstairs is the perfect retreat to come back to after a long day. Nearby recommendations: Casa Batllo was right down the street. Raffaelli Ristorante is a 4 min. walk, and offered the most remarkable italian meal. Boca Chica, a lounge and restaurant is a 8 min. walk from the hotel, another incredible choice.

Everything we hoped for and more!
Absolutely a perfect hotel to explore Barcelona. Excellent and welcoming staff, exquisite architecture and decor and superb location. Our room with a walkout terrace had a view of two iconic landmarks. The comfort of the room lives up to 5 stars. Take advantage of the rooftop terrace and pool for lunch or a late night drink. We enjoyed the pool as well as ending our long days on the rooftop- open till 2:00 a.m. The Thursday night jazz concert that was recommended on many websites exceeded expectations. Don’t miss these talented musicians . It’s a great scene, very elegant and European. Lots of great shopping in every direction. We enjoyed dining in several cafes within a 5 minute radius. Great Wifi as well as computed in the lobby for convenience. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Our experience validated our decision not to stay in anNorth American chain.
