About Okinawa Grand Mer Resort, Okinawa City

Upscale hotel and spa with shuttles around Okinawa Island

Shuttle to airport

At the center of Okinawa Island, Tokyo Dai-Ichi Hotel Okinawa Grand Mer Resort is a 25-minute taxi ride from Sunset Beach. Free hotel shuttles take you to Naha International Airport in 45 minutes, or Chatan Park and Sunset Beach in 20.

Old castle, modern shops

You can take a 15-minute drive south to visit the ruins of the Ryukyu-era Nakagusuku Castle, a historic site with citadels overlooking Nakagusuku Bay. A free 20-minute hotel shuttle ride makes it easy to visit Mihama American Village, a shopping complex near U.S. military bases.

Sushi, swim, spa

You can enjoy fresh sushi at Waryu Sushi Shuna, while Dress Diner, the hotel’s family-style buffet restaurant, offers Western dishes throughout the day; there's a cozy lounge bar, too. How about a hot stone massage at the onsite Yukuru Spa, or a swim in the indoor pool? If you're in town for business, the 24-hour business center and meeting room is at your service.

Space to stretch out

Western-style rooms have space to spread out with 2 beds, generous sitting areas, and work desks. You can stay connected with free WiFi and flat-screen TVs, and the rooms also include mini-fridges and electric kettles so you can brew your own coffee and tea. Clean and nice hotel but should have coffee shop to meet friend. Have to order meal to have a cup of coffee. Location is kind of hard to get in and out. Staff service was excellent! I will stay again.

Excellent Hotel for Price
The hotel was more than my expectations. However, the breakfast meal provided with the room was substandard. It had little flavor, no variety, and in most cases cold. If I were to use the hotel again in the future, I would not purchase the breakfast with the room.

Great customer service
It was a wonderful trip, and the hotel was very good and spacious for the money we paid for it. The staff was delightful, very friendly and helpful, and numerous. Any question or inquiry you had was met by three staff members quickly huddling and finding the best person to help you find what you were looking for, or call someone who speaks your language (English for me, Korean for my wife). The only shortcoming of the room was that the furnishings were a bit dated. Everything was obviously well cleaned, but just a bit worn. The hotel is on a hill and you have a great view of the sea. The immediate surroundings were not really within walking distance of anything touristy or exciting, but if you have a rental car there is plentiful parking, and it is within a pretty short drive of the zoo and the largest mall on the island. The hotel itself does have great stuff to do within the hotel though, including multiple restaurants and bars, a pool (small but well maintained), a sauna and a masseuse.
