Appearances can be deceiving
This hotel is far overrated. My "panoramic" view was a 100mm view of the lake. The walls are paper thin (you can hear all conversations and door bells). BOTH elevators broke down. Parts of the bathroom including the soap tray were incredibly gross. Wi-Fi was not free. On the positive side it's in a great location and within walking distance downtown. Would not recommend.

WARNING Thin walls, noisy neighbors, bad "service"
This is supposed to be a high-end hotel, but the stay there was a nightmare. The walls are VERY THIN, you can hear EVERYTHING from the next room. It is a construction problem of the hotel that won't be solved, so stay away. There was a big group in the next room, and I could hear them, the little girl's scream, the boy ringing my doorbell. When I called the front desk, the girl there (Emily) said she will call them. After 1 hour, noise was the same, so I called back and Emily said she didn't call them because "their phone line was busy". The next time I called, a man (Romano) said the hotel can't do anything until 10pm and that everybody had "a right to be reasonably noisy". When I finally demanded change of rooms, I was moved to a room half the size of my original room. They moved me instead of the family, and I was told the family had stayed in the hotel 3 nights already. Next morning I was awoken in the "new" room by the sound of the hair dryer in the next room. I demanded my money back next morning to the day manager (Vinod), but he refused, saying he will give a few dollars off the ORIGINAL room price instead. Even with this "refund" as they called it, they wired the money to my home account almost 3 weeks later, with less amount than they promised. I'm aware of bank fees and checked the exchange rate and the amount deducted was still more than that. Also, there is another construction going on next to the hotel, which looked like it won't finish in a year.

Spacious and top location
Confusing check in but spacious room with incredible views. Gas fireplace and underfloor heating in bathroom but cold in rest of apartment. Great kitchen and balcony, room needed a little updating (carpets etc). Uncomfortable bed and no free wifi, and hotel gym not open until 10am. Would stay again for location, on expensive side though!

Don't take the upgrade
Upgraded rooms, but not sure I preferred the "studio" which just had the bed in another room, which made it feel kind of closed off. Bed was against wall next to the hallway, which was noisy from guests next door. Very little natural light. Carpet was soiled, bathroom and carpet had obvious water damage.

Superb resolution
My partner and I booked a standard hotel room and were very disappointed. The tap in the bathroom was broken and loose, the showerhead was loose/leaking, you had to slam the bathroom door to shut it, and there were dozens of wires hanging from the TV, one of which was open a fused to another hazardously, while the set top box was balancing precariously behind the TV and almost fell when I adjusted the angle of the stand. The box office feature also didn't work and the expresso machine was sitting on a chest of drawers. Worst of all the room was a hot box in summer. The window only opened a few centimetres and the fan they provided could not do much with that. I decided to talk to them in the morning because it was late, but as the hours wore on it was impossible to sleep in the heat. I went down to see reception at 3:30 in the morning. The night manager who met me was lovely and sympathetic of how uncomfortable we were and immediately put things right. He was going to upgrade us to an apartment, but as there wasn't going to be one vacant until the next day and we would still be uncomfortable and sleepless he upgraded us all the way to the penthouse, where we remained for the rest of our stay. We also received a free breakfast, a bottle of wine, and the manager called us the next day to ask if there was anything else they could do. Staff were so helpful and friendly and I thank them so much for making what could have been a horrible few days exceptional.
