First, our experience upon check-in was just fabulous. Thanks to the young man who was working the afternoon we arrived, tired after a long day hiking/park-hopping!
Second, the overall property and room, concept, is just adorable!! Really well done. Comfortable. Beds are great, large spacious room (omg - that refrigerator!! So stinking cute!), and a good shower... All appreciated. I also really loved the chairs and little table outside. A really nice touch.
But then there are the following issues:
1. There was no morning reception clerk on duty. At all. Office shuttered, locked, and no information. (we needed a simple box of tissues... couldn't not get) This happened both mornings of our two night stay.
2. No breakfast on property. We could see the coffee maker in the locked office... but were told that we could walk down the street to Best Western for breakfast.
So here's the thing:
Rather than telling a paying guest that "we don't have staff for breakfast service, but Best Western is just down the street" ---- you need to tell your staff that "Aiken is just down the street" and send someone down each morning with coffee and packaged pastries, yogurt, and fruit.
Or cut your price and let us deal with breakfast on our own.
The breakfast at Best Western was crap. Not one single person I saw (self included) who walked down returned with anything other than a cup of coffee. Several walked in, looked around, and left. Not worth it. And definitely not in cold wind!
