Needs some work
We booked this because several websites rated it as a top pick for vacationing families. Overall, it was just okay and it didn't live up to its online impression. The kids did love the indoor water park and the staff was friendly enough, but I don't see us returning for a future stay. While the room wasn't dirty, everything seemed very worn and old. That was the feeling throughout the hotel and the grounds. Even though we had booked months in advance, we were stuck in a first floor room next to an open breezeway that led to the dumpsters. It smelled terrible and its location next to the pool meant we had to keep our curtains shut for privacy and we missed out on seeing the ocean view. Even if we'd been given a better room location, it wouldn't have changed my overall feeling that the resort felt like it had seen better days.

Beautiful room
My son & I stayed in the king studio. The room was so big and absolutely beautiful. I hated to leave. The resort had plenty for us to do, the large number of pools, splash pad, playground by the beach, and even some putting greens. My only complaint is that the pool water was colder than I expected. My son had a blast but I could hardly bear it.

Amazing stay!
Staying atvthe Dunes feels like home, the staff is very friendly and courteous. The ammenties are incomparable to other resorts in myrtle beach. I'm sure Dunes may not be the best resort in myrtle beach bit they are the best for us!

Ok
The hotel wasn't very clean the bathroom door didn't shut or lock the cable tv was awful and the waterpark is more for little kids this hotel is definitely not worth the cost of the rooms

Nice staff, not so good otherwise
They were having an issue with staffing which I understand. We had to go buy air freshener, at times you could smell possible past vomit. If your looking for resort amenities this is not the place. The comforts, towels were scratchy and thin, service, extras, were mediocre. What they call a suite is actually a double with a little kitchenette. Not a true suite. There is no separation of areas. Everything was outdated, cracked tiles in the showers area, mold and mildew. The breakfast is overpriced, low quality, the restaurant on site was horrible without enough seating for a two tower resort. The only reason I do not give this a total horrible review is the staff tried hard, however, I think the company needs to invest a little more into the quality instead of the outside appearances. There is not enough laundry 2 washers for each tower, the workout equipment is early 1990's. The pool for the kids is the only thing I think they are doing right here.
