Second stay, as good as the first!
This is my second time staying at the Weathervane. I was just as pleased this time as I was the first time I stayed there. Comfortable room, friendly staff, tasty breakfast.

Stay by the Lake
Number one thing about this hotel is definitely the location. Had one night here solo, I found this place last minute and was able to enjoy hanging out outside on the public balcony for sunset the night I checked in and for breakfast the morning I checked out. Balcony views match the pictures shown here, it's beautiful. Also, delicious snickerdoodle coffee served at breakfast with not a terrible selection of food. Room was ok, not the biggest I've had for the price but it was comfortable and up to date. More of a location hotel anyway. One other thing I'd say as a minor complaint is that they lock the doors after 10 p.m. I don't experience that too often in hotels and I had to go out that night, so it was a little awkward asking to be let back in to the place I booked. But, some people may like this feature for safety and I don't know the surrounding area enough to judge if it's a necessity or not. Overall, I'd book this place again if I ever found myself back in western Michigan.

I Was hoping my stay would be as great as some of the other reviews I read. I requested a 2nd floor room with a king bed. I got a 2nd floor room with a queen. At first glance the room looked very nice. Upon looking further the window sills and jetted tub had mosquitos and bugs all over. The pillow shams smelled like someone's oily scalp. And after a couple hours of my daughter walking around the room barefoot I noticed her feet were BLACK on the bottom. I checked my son's feet and sure enough they were dirty as well. The carpet definitely needed a stream clean. Also they have a very nice balcony over looking white lake but you cannot use it at night because there is a light right next to the door that stays on and If you even open your door for a second, a ton of mosquitos get in your room. Also the front desk was ALWAYS empty?! If I hadn't paid $520 for a 2 night stay i wouldn't have been as disappointed. I guess my expectations were too high?
