The choice in SMA.
We did a tour of other top end hotels in town and this is the place to stay. Amazing staff, big enough for amenities and small enough for privacy and comfort. Quiet location but on street with designer boutiques and very walkable to the zocalo. Beautiful building well built.

Was just OK
It was just ok. Very expensive for the area and for a poor restaurant. Probably wouldn’t stay here again, would try another place. Staff very nice.

Nice hotel but service needs a lot of improvement
I had a nice stay at Matilda Hotel however the restaurant wait staff at the Moxi restaurant was extremely slow. 30 to 40 minute wait to receive guacamole & chips. Also the room service staff never responded when I requested a pot of hot water as I was not feeling well, I had to call twice in 45 minutes. I complained but the Hotel Manager took 2 hours to call me. Also the hotel lobby furniture and Moxi restaurant furniture was cleared out 2 days in advance of "Day of the Dead" holiday to set up for their event. But hotel guests had no where to sit in the lobby and restaurant area looked bad with stacks of chairs everywhere and staff hanging lights. This should have been done in a collapsed schedule and at off hours.

Nice quiet place
Stay was good. The room was alright. There is no bathroom counter space and it was very difficult for two women to get ready. “Kitchen” was listed in description when booking but there is only a mini fridge with items to purchase - no room for your own things, no microwave, no coffee maker - sink in the bathroom. The “rain” shower head was not a rain shower head from the ceiling like you would think. It’s just a normal shower head. The drain was broken but the shower still drained so it wasn’t a big deal. There is a ice bucket in the room but no ice maker to access. We had to go to the bar to get it filled or call room service. Bottled water is not complimentary. With all that said, the staff is awesome. The hotel is peaceful. We really did feel watched out for. They ordered us a taxi one night and got us to our location easily. The pool and settings and art are very beautiful. Lastly, the restaurant was probably the worst food we had our entire stay in San Miguel. We ordered four different items and each were either not edible or barely satisfying. There is no service for drinks or food at the pool which would have been nice. Over all I would stay here again, but for the money (not cheap) I might try another place next time.

Lovely hotel but a bit too pricey
A beautiful haven not far from the main square and also close to Juarez Park and the Rosewood. We had a nice spacious room with a very comfortable king bed but the lighting was hard to operate and was so dim in some areas. The electricity went out one night and we were on a generator which was loud and made the lights flash like strobes! Each day we were given two individual size bottles of water and two glasses so we assumed these were our complimentary waters. Nope, we were charged the equivalent of $5 a day. We would have picked up water outside for much less had we known. We enjoyed the pool and Spa one day. Both of our massages were very good but equivalent to US pricing. We knew so that was ok. We had heard the restaurant Moxie was good so ate both lunch and dinner there on our last day. It was ok but not worth the high prices. I had a martini priced at $14; very much higher than most places in San Miguel. No wonder the restaurant was always empty. For the price, we probably won’t stay again.
