History, tradition and charm
We have been staying here for many years and expect to continue to do so. Management has updated the facilities over the years without compromising the charm or traditions of the property. One of the members of the family of the current owners has written a history of the property, and a copy of the book is in each room--good reading. That said, like many older hotels the rooms are small. Rooms are located in 2-story "cottages" of 8-12 rooms; no elevators. We had requested a ground floor room when we booked, but management claimed Hotels.com hadn't forwarded the request; we have heard that excuse before. They did give us an ADA compliant room (we didn't need that) which was the only lower floor room vacant. Hotel was full, and parking was difficult. The WiFi didn't work; fortunately I carry my own mobile WIFI hub. We went to one of the many nearby restaurants for dinner, but had a very nice breakfast at the Inn. Complimentary newspapers, too. The gardens are an especially attractive feature of the Inn which bring us back.

This was a great option for us since we had a dog. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. There were great restaurants within a block or two and an awesome park for the dog.

Wine Tasting in Paso
Great location for walking in downtown area. About a 40 minute drive from Hearst Castle. Recommend McPhees in Templeton for dinner; approximately 5 miles from Hotel. Half a mile away from Joe's Place for a solid breakfast. Would highly recommend this establishment for lodging
