Hidden Ridge Resort, Banff
Hidden Gem
Hidden Ridge is an excellent option for a family looking for lots of sleeping room, and in-room kitchen and do not mind being away from the noise of downtown. The lofted-living room, however, means that the upstairs bedroom is relatively noisy.

Run-down and extremely overrated
One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. The owner, management and staff care absolutely nothing about hospitality. They care solely about squeezing as many pennies as possible out of every guest. The rooms are very run down, from extreme mildew and black mold in the bathrooms, to abhorrently filthy wall switches, to a broken stove top, to towel racks falling off the wall, to dangerously broken wall outlets, etc., etc. (see photos) This "resort" is listed as having daily room cleaning. This is a scam. It's not until after your first night staying here that you find out, via a note left by housekeeping, that there is no daily cleaning. They claim to clean the room on the third day of your stay, but that does not happen either. They claim to provide cleaning supplies, but none are provided. They leave 2 dishwasher detergent tabs under your sink and never replenish them. We had to call the front desk to ask for everything. There are cleaning supplies such as paper towels or cleaning rags or spray cleaner. They merely replace your towels. That is all. They claim to make the beds, but look at our photos to see how this goes... Hot tub closes over an hour before it's even dark outside. Staff is incredibly rude. Yells at you for driving "the wrong way" through the property despite the absolute lack of any indication that the road is one-way. Laundry facilities are filthy and extremely overpriced. "Resort" is an extremely loud party mecca on weekends.

Excellent lodge for family
The lodge was excellent to stay for family. My kids loved the second floor bedroom with nice sunshine and scenery and the kitchen was useful since it has all instruments including wine classes, table mats, knives and so on. The outside spa has nice scenery as well and free!

Poorly kept resort in a Beautiful spot.
Banff is awesome, had a blast! Location of resort was ideal to attend meetings at Banff Centre while family had fun around the area. Hot tub was awesome with amazing views but got a bit crowded at times. Loft room was a bit cramped for 4 even though listed to accommodate 8. Very disappointed with condition of room see pics. On-site BBQs listed in ad so we brought nice steaks, but the BBQ was in total disrepair. Out in the weather and not cleaned in ages. Blew tall flames in one spot on burner and rest of burner totally plugged. Cupboard and appliance doors hanging crooked. Sticky scum in only bathtub that would not wash off. Room not well stocked--had to ask front desk for paper towels, oven pan, kindling, bbq tools. Toaster broken--had to fuss with to make it stay on. Dryer would not dry small load in one session, had to ask desk to restart. Sauna cold, would not turn on. Front desk had to reset breaker--waited ages for it to warm up. Overall a fun stay, but wished management was more interested in maintaining their facility in such a beautiful place.

Real treat of a retreat! :)
We really enjoyed our stay here! Lots of space in the flat, super friendly staff (though often understaffed, there might be just one person working the front desk at a time with a long queue, phones ringing, etc..) and the hot tub/sauna a really nice perk! Only complaint would be the soft saggy mattresses, even our kids were complaining about being sore and feeling like they are sliding off the bed. Oh and the wifi was a bit dodgy... But really, I'd stay here again for sure! Stunning views and good location, just a short drive from downtown, and a free shuttle to take if you prefer not to park in town. :)
