Stay Modern and Walk to Old Town
Decent stay for a family of four. They gave us a bigger room on request as the one they booked us was too small when we got there. Resturant food if pretty harsh and over priced so stay away from that. Pool was good for kids as end of sight-seeing day option to TV. Newly renovated room had mold on the shower grout.

Great hotel. One of the best breakfast buffet I have ever had. Such a variety. That was one of the best parts. We chose this hotel because of the pool. Pool was terrible. The chlorine was so strong my son started coughing so badly as soon as we walked in. A few minutes of coughing, he threw up. Just make sure the pool is ok... other than that, fantastic stay.

Perfect location near Grassmarket and old town. one of the few places with a pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna!

Great location, not so great hotel
Upon reaching the hotel for check in, we were greeted with an overwhelming smell of chlorine from the downstairs indoor pool and an unfriendly receptionist. The room itself was nice and well laid out. When we went to the bar for a drink and some food, the Bartender was rude and unhelpful. Later in the evening we filled out the breakfast delivery slip in our room. It said we could ask for breakfast to be delivered from 6 am on at 15 minute intervals. We asked for it between 645 and 7. The room was comfortable and we fell fast to sleep. They knocked on our door at 645 am to bring us our breakfast. We were brought only the non cooked portion of our breakfast. I stopped the waitress where the rest of our food was. She checked our order and said the kitchen doesn’t open until 7 am but the have a generic Novotel breakfast card and said she could bring the rest later. We had a tour later and were then rushed to eat. This hotel does not follow Novotel breakfast rules and doesn’t tell their guests this. When we came back after our tour we found fruit left on the floor. We hadn’t touched our fruit so it was dropped by the maids and left there when the must have skipped cleaning our floors. The rest of the stay was laced with similar issues and the HVAC had no cooling. It’s a nice room and in a great location but the way the hotel is run is horrible. I would never stay in this hotel again. Please save your money and stay somewhere else. There are plenty of other nice hotels in the area.

Great home base while in Edinburgh
Great home base while in Edinburgh! We stayed 5 nights and could easily walk to all of the sites we wanted to see in Edinburgh. We even took a train for a day trip to Berwick on Tweed in England. Forty minutes on a fast train, very reasonably priced by buying our tickets a day ahead of time a the train station and choosing our time schedule based on price.
