Great Location and Great Service
We stayed here during our 24 hour layover with Turkish Airlines.....Awesome location right between the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque and about a 10 minute walk to the Great Market.....beautiful view from the breakfast area on top of the hotel. The service was amazing and we wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay here again!

Comfortable and Convenient Hotel in Istanbul
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Uyan. I can't imagine a hotel having a better location. It is about a two minute walk to the square where the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are. As you can see in the hotel's own photo, this is not a large American or European chain hotel--not a Marriott with hundreds of rooms, it's a small boutique hotel--maybe family-owned--and it offers that small boutique hotel cultural experience. The room met my expectations for size, comfort, and cleanliness. My suggestion for improvement is wi-fi. Of the four nights we stayed there, we were either unable to get on their wi-fi, or there was no speed benefit over rather slow cellular. I wanted to be able to load photos from the day's sightseeing to the cloud, and I couldn't do that because neither wi-fi nor cellular could load a hundred iphone pictures to the cloud. On the positive side, and this is very important, the service was outstanding. The front desk manager was friendly, resourceful, and willing to help out. He arranged a 4:00 AM car service to take us to the airport and even met us at that time to make sure we were able to depart successfully. He could not have been better.

Nice hotel with small short coming
Hotel Uyan is next to Sultanahmet Square, great view of Hagia & Blue Mosque from 3 floor rooms facing north and top of the hotel. Hotel decoration was great with gold laced paint on the top of the walls. Although old place was nice. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Bathrobes, sitting area, ward chest, safe, desk, tubs. Like others place is secured with staff watching all coming and going. Free typical breakfast (eggs, bread, salad, olives, cheese, ham?, pastries, drinks). Room has safe but need to get a key from front desk. Breakfast at 4th floor overlooking Bosphorus, outdoor patio overlook Sultanahmet square. Place does look of age as hallways and rooms had some bubbles on the wall (water damage?) chip paints, holes, etc. Much as place look like a boutique hotel, couple things like tower (flimsy like a cheap motel towel), has baggage cubicles like other hotels but no dresser or drawers. Being secure is good but when staff is out helping or taking a break, no one was at the front desk and front door locked. We were locked out for 10 min in middle of day until someone came to open the door (how about a bell?) Overall it was a nice stay.
