Guxiang Hotel Shanghai (Howard Johnson Plaza), Shanghai
Good6.0
The hotel has a nice structure, rooms are really comfortable, breakfast is very good. Although, the hotel doesn't worry about the costumers the minute they pass trought the front door. All nights of my staying there were girls offering 'services' to the male costumers at the front door, they stay there all night and even use the hotel toilet. U can't stay 15 minutes at the smoking area without someone passing by offering flowers, waxing services or other stuff. At my last day, I need a taxi to the railway station. asked help for a employee of the hotel, who was with three other man. They stopped a taxi, at the railway station we had to pay more than 300 rmb, for the same travel I had payed 70 rmb a few days before. Which means the hotel has no concern about the safety of the costumers, what's really important when u are clearly a foreign person, who doesn't speaks the local language.

Not as good as it once was
Formerly Howard Johnson's owned, a very grand hotel, but under new ownership. As such having stayed there several times previously, I see many aspects of a hotel not being kept up.

Good location
The hotel is in a good location and clean. Old hotel though refrigerator did not work, could not adjust air temperature, and some furniture damaged. There is no car service at the hotel which the description said there was, only taxi service. The staff was friendly and helpful.
