It was a decent hotel, but not a 4-star, as advertised. It needs a bit of an update with decor, furniture...Seems a bit 1960s. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Room was nice and large and clean.

Weekend in brussels
The hotel itself is in great shape. No room service, but you don't want that in Brussels anyway. Close to everything, within walking distance. The neighborhood looks OK, but a bit noisy.

Great stay. Highly recommend the Augustin!
In our overall rating, this was the best hotel we stayed at. Great price, great service, great location and by far the most comfortable room. Comparisons are with similar price and guest ratings of the hotels we stayed at in Berlin, Paris and London.

Turned away sick guests due to double booking
On the train from Paris to Brussels, my wife got sick (food poisoning from something that morning). My wife stumbled from the taxi into the Augustin lobby holding a bag of her own vomit longing for the bed we had already booked and paid for. The gentleman behind the counter at least offered her some water and appeared genuinely concerned. The same could not be said for the perky blonde who snidely informed us that there was a double booking error and that we would be spending the night elsewhere. She just kept smiling at me as if that would make it okay. I wish I would have argued but frankly I was so stunned that I didn't know what to say. They paid for our hotel, of course (we had prepaid for ours), and our cab there, but I cannot get over the fact that we walked into the lobby of the Augustin with my wife looking like death and holding a bag of her own vomit and they shuffled us off to another hotel because their mistake. Double bookings happen, but after observing the condition my wife was in they could have decided to move someone else. In fact, that would have been the only decent thing to do. Instead we ushered out as soon as we walked in. I can't know for sure whether our being American had anything to do with their decision to select us to be moved. Perhaps it was random, but I can't help but wonder.

The hotel was charming. The service was excellent. The breakfast was tasty with many food item choices.
