Condition Of Room
The room, itself, was very clean. However, the dryer vent was totally FULL OF LINT!! - a real fire hazard! The removable vent had been cleaned, but where that vent filter goes was HORRIBLY caked with lint. My husband used his pocket knife to remove the screws and we were able to clean it out as best we could. The lint was about 1/2" thick through the entire area; just awful, and we really don't know why the dryer even continued to operate. As said above, a terrible fire hazard!! Our major dissatisfaction, though, was in the condition of the two showers. They are in extremely bad condition, with black mold everywhere! A thorough cleaning with a chlorine product would take care of the mold, we feel sure, and it was really creepy to use the showers. We left the doors open afterwards, so there would be airflow into them when wet. If one looks up at the top of the shower, you can see the grey grout - from when the tile was originally installed. Again, they need a thorough cleaning with a chlorine product! We feel that they have been neglected for a very long time. Also, the drain cover in the master bathroom is not screwed down, and it came up while Mrs. Austen was showering and inflicted a blood blister on her big toe. Seems unreasonable that the cover had not been screwed down.......

Exceptional
Beautiful facility and grounds, very nice stay.
Excellent facility; we were disappointed that, though Hotels.com stated this would be a room with daily housekeeping, it was provided only every third day unless you specifically called to request something be cleaned up. However, the staff was very nice, the facility was excellent, parking was good (a little crowded at times, but it was a marathon weekend and all Kona was humming), and all-in-all we truly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the second floor, which of course required climbing exterior stairs to get to the doorway; it wasn't a problem, but one of our party twisted an ankle on the pyramid-shaped curbs between the parking area and the sidewalks on our second day, and was in crutches for three days, making climbing those stairs very difficult (watch out when you stand on those curbs!). Also, many of the parking spaces are blocked from the sidewalks by hedges, so you often had to wheel suitcases quite a distance to get to your room. A loading area in each building would be nice. Furnishings are nice, good artwork, well maintained area with very nice landscaping and pool area. Staff friendly and caring, and the virgin Pina Coladas at entry were nice--just wish they'd provided them every day! When we return to Kona area we'll definitely stay here again! If I had it to do over, I'd land in Hilo and spend a night or two, then drive around the south end--what a volcano!--and spend the rest of the time at Wyndham Kona. Thanks for a great stay!

Warning, timeshare!
First of all, be warned this place is a timeshare property so if you happen to book it online through Expedia, they will try to get you to sit through their timeshare presentations. They will ask you for your address and contact info and ask if you earn at least $60,000/year even for something simple as registering for your parking permit for the property. I just declined and ignored their pleas to attend, but it can be a turn off for some. Their front desk employees also spoke to me on more than one occasion as if I was being a burden to them. I’m sorry for asking you to do your job. One of my rooms was not ready at the 4 pm check in and I was told I would receive a phone call notifyig me when it would be ready. I did not receive any call by 5 pm so I went back to the front desk to check and it was actually ready. The rooms themselves are very nice and we enjoyed our stay. Just wish the employees were friendlier.

Exceptional
Nice Accommodation.
Resort was nicely situated in Kona, not far from main dining strip (2-3 minute drive). Resort was well set out and maintained to a high standard. One concern we had was our room was not ready for our 4pm check-in, a little frustrating after 18 hours consisting of 2 flights and driving. Finally got access at 4:20pm (thought 4pm was quite late for check-in). Other concern was debit of security ($150 US) on two separate occasion. Our stay went from weekdays into the weekend, so booking system in place at resort automatically identifies our booking for 5 nights as two separate bookings (weekday & weekend). Money was refunded but it would have been nice to know in advance that this would happen. Overall, accommodation was much better than I thought it would be and entire family very happy with accommodation.

Very Good
Good location and nice property. The good: - Great beds - Great A/C and fans - Clean - As advertised - Roomy units - Nice grounds - Decent gym The not as good (nitpicking): - Service is OK, not everyone seems happy to help (go to front desk to get extra toilet paper, woman doesn't help, need to talk to other person who is in the middle of a check in, so need to wait 5 minutes....for a roll of TP) - It seems very likely that the locals are frequenting the pool here. Probably friends with someone working here. No gripes with locals, but it made it more crowded. Also, there were large parties of locals on Saturday night, which took up parking and made it quite loud. Again, no problems with locals, but limited parking and noise were the issue. - Not all amenities available. They had beach items you could borrow that were rarely available (chairs, mats, snorkel mask). Even very early in the morning. That was annoying. - Scheduled the quarterly pest control during our stay. Odd. All in all it was very good and we liked it.
