Wanted to love it, the mosquitos had other plans.
I wanted so much to love this hotel! The hotel is beautiful, the neighborhood is great, and the staff is incredibly kind & helpful. And while the room we stayed in was spacious, the mosquitos were impossible to avoid, even after the front desk staff gave us a citronella plug in for our room. We found dead mosquitos everywhere; including smashed on the walls on the room (blood included). We asked for our sheets to be changed after 2 nights of dealing with the bugs, and found the sheets were changed but the pillow cases were not (another dead bug & blood was proof of that). I understand Firenze has plenty of mosquitos, but I’ve never encountered such a lack of cleanliness regarding them before. As lovely as it was, I would only stay at this hotel again if there was a serious effort to do something about the bugs, because it made staying and sleeping there almost impossible. If you’re going to be there, I would recommend bringing your own bug spray, if only so you’ll get a decent night’s sleep.

In te heart of everything, we had a lovely patio, and a bathtub. The breakfast was great. The gardens needed tending a bit, a great fitness area. There were many mosquitos, but it rained. The staff, housekeeping, bar staff, and Thomaso, were so helful. He was kind, professional, attentive, and gave excellent recommendations for attractions and dining options, we were all new to Florence and meeting up with friends. We had so much fun, thanks, Grazi Melia! Ciao
