great for business convention. nothing in area.
Very nice except they charge you to park underground when you can just park in the lot accross the lawn and nothing in area to get food or snacks. Food there is very good but of course, super expensive.

Nice Business Hotel
I've stayed at the Brookstreet a number of times over the years. The hotel is always clean and the staff friendly. The rooms are well appointed and the WiFi has gotten better over time. Nice bar and restaurant. It's always a nice visit. Really the only two things that burn me each time I stay are the parking fee and the fee to print a boarding pass. The hotel is in an office building complex, so I don't understand why the need to charge for parking other than simply to gouge the customers. It's not as it land is/was at a premium and there's no other places to park. Also, I travel all over the world and the Brookstreet is the only hotel I stay at that charges a fee to print a boarding pass. $.50 per page regardless of what is being printed. It's not the actual cost that bothers me, it's the principle. I'm already paying a premium to stay at the hotel, so why charge for a few courtesy print-outs. I can see charging for large volume print jobs, but why not allow guests to print a few pages for free. If the issue is reimbursement for the fancy copier/printer, then install a cheap computer/printer combo where the browser is limited to accessing airline sites. That's not uncommon and is what so many other hotels are doing. Even the Motel 6 doesn't charge to print a boarding pass.

Brookstreet may not be our first choice any longer
We have stayed at Brookstreet many times. When we checked in this time, the associate asked if this was our first time. We said no, we had been there a number of times. Last time, the associate could see this on his monitor. Then we were told that we were getting an upgrade. We had specifically booked a room with a balcony facing the golf course. We had driven 8 hours so we took the key and went up to the "Upgraded Room" and we were appalled by the smell. This room faced the parking lot and did not have a balcony and smelt of cigarettes and air freshener. We immediately left the room went down to the check in counter and told the associate we did not want the upgrade we wanted the room we had selected online. He then said that the hotel was full and he did not think he had this room for us. We had booked our stay several weeks prior so we were surprised with this. He then went on to say that when you book with Expedia (Hotels.com) that Brookstreet is not notified of our room selection and that they therefore do not guarantee the room you select. We were shocked by this comment as we have always been treated respectfully at Brookstreet regardless of how we book the room. After a short while he gave us a room which did have the balcony and overlooked the golf course. He was not very kind and we felt like we were treated like second rate guests. The rating we gave was for the first room but the room we eventually received was a 4 out of 5.

Found a gem for a family get away!
We spent one night to attend an Ottawa Senators game. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They got us set up with a shuttle to the game even though we arrived only an hour before we needed to leave. Our daughters loved the pool. We wished we has planned to stay longer. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the area!
