We had a pretty mixed opinion of our stay. We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is nice, the staff are friendly the breakfast is amazing (like in most Scandic Hotels). There is a bar downstairs with coffee and tea facilities. The location is good. However, our room was a bit bleak. The walls are grey and the twin beds were quite small and pushed together. So we had to separate the beds. When we got into our beds the first night, I said to my sister that the pillow smelt quite bad. It smelt like very greasy hair and body odour. We found an extra pillow in the ottoman and changed the pillow case, but it left us with the impression that the pillows and possibly the bedding in general were not very clean. The room was very cold and the radiator did not appear to work. We said to one of the receptionists downstairs and she said she would increase the temperature but it did not appear to have much effect. This was a shame as we had been out walking in the snow all day and our shoes were wet. We had hoped to put them under the radiator to warm by the morning. We had to use a hairdryer to dry our boots. We were a bit disappointed that we did not have tea and coffee facilities in our room as the other places that we have stayed in Scandinavia all had these. When we had our room cleaned the cleaner did not replenish the toilet paper. We had taken tissues with us, but it was a bit inconvenient. We would stay in a Scandic again, but maybe not this one as it felt a bit like camping indoors.

Not a bad hotel
Stayed for one night. About 15 min walk from central railway station. Room was a little cramped and a double was 2 single beds put together with single sheets. No tea and coffee making facilities in room which was very annoying. Breakfast was good and what they had was very nice but only pastry/sweet option was mini croissants - no pain au chocolate, danish, waffles, biscuits etc. Whole place was clean and staff were friendly

We were sightseeing all day, so really just wanted a place to sleep and shower that provided breakfast. The economy room did that for us. While extremely small, it was well appointed. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, one of the best I’ve experienced and has made us hard core Scandic fans. Definitely is important to pick the time you go for breakfast though as they have tour busses staying there and they all show up at once on their departure day. The staff on the front desk were also some of the best I’ve experienced. Oslo was experiencing a heat wave, and the room we had was an interior one, without opening windows. It was quite warm (no control over the temp in your room) and everyone was asking for fans. The fans were all out, and I’m pretty sure the front desk gave us their fan so we could sleep more comfortably. The front desk was also very helpful with our many questions about where we could find things away from the tourist section of town. The location was perfect, about 3 blocks from Karl Johan St, so away from the bar noises, but close to all public transport and sightseeing. Easy walk to a train station with our heavy bags.

Hotel: what you expect. Breakfast: above & beyond
look, the scandic is buying up a lot of properties. They have a formula, and it's working. They have JUST enough design sense & asthetic to take a very average hotel room, and make it look a bit more "hip". They know how to dress up the lobby bar & hotel restaurant to make you feel you are staying somewhere chic for a good price. In the end, it's not the greatest hotel you'll ever stay in, you won't remember it when you've left, but the breakfast, you'll take Photos of. Free with the room and a cumbersome breakfast with options galore makes you feel you got away with something on the price, and will keep you full through lunch. A great business plan scandic. Feed their bellies and their minds will keep using their wallets to come back. Not bad. Over all, maybe a 6 out of 10 on the hotel. But that's good. It is. Not a bad stay, just not knock you out of the park.

Nice hotel with technical issues
A nice clean hotel in a good location. The staff were helpful but there were technical issues that made our stay less enjoyable. The WiFi did work but I had to jump through hoops to get my apple products to connect because they do not trust the connection’s security. My wife and I had a couple drinks at the bar and added them to our room. When we checked out the payment system was down so we had to leave our credit card info with the desk clerk. After returning home I found that we had been double charged for our drinks.
