Good hotel but getting a bit tatty
I chose this hotel mainly for its convenience - it was the closest location to where I needed to be in Brussels. The room was very spacious and the furniture comfortable, but it had seen better days: one of the cupboard doors would not close properly and kept swinging slightly open, the air-con/heating did not seem to work at all (and it was very cold that week in Brussels!), and the shower tap in the bathroom was loose in its fitting and came out of the wall as soon as I touched it, meaning that on my first morning in the hotel I could not use the shower. To be fair, as soon as I reported the shower issue, a technician went to my room and fixed it; nevertheless, the fact remains that there is a need for ongoing maintenance. Service at the front desk was courteous and helpful.

Not what it should be
Hotel old and tired. Needs a full modernisation. Bathroom sink cracked. Tiles cracked in shower. Loose bathroom floor tiles. Very poor sound insulation. Can hear conversations in adjoining rooms. Certainly not up to 4* standard. Staff very helpful and do their best.

Very nice staff and pretty decor
I stayed here for 9 nights and had the pleasure of trying three different rooms. Overall, I like this hotel and I would probably return to hotel Barsey by Warwick in the future. The staff in this hotel were all very nice!! I however have some comments. I noticed something I did not like in my initial room and the front desk offered me a new room directly. I appreciated that. The second room was better (but incredibly cold). My new room was not done for two days on the weekend. I do not really know why. One of the days I stayed away for very long in order to let the housekeeping personnel work in peace but no cleaning was made. The third room was the best. It was a little bit higher up in the building looking out towards the city which was nice. The other rooms was looking out in the “garden” and it was not much to see there - although still allowed for some privacy. I tried the, very French, breakfast only once and I think it was a bit overpriced (24E) in comparison to what was on offer on the buffet. The gym is not a gym. It is a small room that is cold. Could perhaps be improved. The restaurant was lovely but I wish they would have menues in English. I saw other guests having lovely meals (that I possibly would have liked too) that I did not knew existed and it was difficult to convey that to the staff. The staff were however super friendly and desserts were great!

The people were very helpful. The food was excellent. The restaurant being closed on Sunday was a surprise but someone found a solution immediately. I reported a door was partly broken and it was inspected immediately.
