Wonderful location, excellent restaurant. Staff and services always helpful polite and friendly. Reception toilet is is poor condition. Gym is very dated. Rooms are very clean and tidy but very dated. Ironing rooms not on floor map.

This is a strange hotel - lots of pros and cons...
The hotel building is wonderful - a beautiful Art Deco (I think) building: outside, the architecture looks amazing; inside, there are still some original features. However, it's also very tired in many ways, such as mismatched styling in the rooms (as they've been updated only partially over time), dark rooms with small windows, and scuffed walls and discoloured grouting. It gives the impression of being dirty. First, Google directs you to the back of the hotel, which looks almost like a deserted warehouse (there's a sign that says it's the rear of the building, but why don't they make more of it?) Second, on checking in, another guest was complaining about the standard of cleanliness. These two points, plus the tired interiors, left me feeling it was dirty. It wasn't - just looks like it is. Initially, I also wondered if it was too far out of time. Again, it wasn't - the 10-15 minutes walk to the centre is pleasant, and it's a straight walk, so easy to navigate. It's also very comfortable. This was the fourth hotel of a holiday, and I slept better than any of the previous three.

The hotel was great a quarter of century ago but has lost some of its value (but has remained quite expensive). I was really disappointed when after morning shower I discovered there was not a single towel in the room. A person in the corridor who was distributing towels did not react to me at all. I reported to the reception about that and went for breakfast. No towels arrived. Of course I survived but cannot get rid of the feeling that maybe this is the new standard of 4* hotels in tough post-COVID time.

Extra bed very uncomfortable
Extra bed for child (14 y) was a disaster. It was very narrow and very tough. We had to sleep all together - 3 people in one king size bed. It was not very comfortable ….. Hotel should consider to change them …. Apart from that everything great.
