Great stay in Hamar!
Great stay in Hamar for my adult son and I. The location was convenient to our friends home, the only slightly inconvenience was the parking situation for our car. The hotel only has a limited number of spaces in the hotel parking lot- we parked our car just across the street from the hotel. Customer service was great and the hot shower, comfortable beds and delicious buffet was spot on. I highly recommend the Scandic brand of hotels.

Passing through Hamar
We were driving through Norway on our way to Oslo. There are not so many towns or hotels in the countryside of Norway, but Hamar is a cute city about 1.5 hours northeast of Oslo. The hotel was very clean, located about 1/2 mile from Hamar’s city center, and the staff were friendly. Our room had pull-down bunk beds for my daughters and all the expected amenities (microwave, tv, WiFi, etc.) The rooms do not appear to have AC or window screens, which could be uncomfortable on a hot summer night. Parking was across the road in an open lot and cost an additional $5. The breakfast buffet was spectacular. Overall, we had a pleasant night and the hotel seemed a fine value for Norway, which can be quite pricey for tourists.

Miracles and magic!
Booked thru 2 months ago and was our first stop flying 16+ hrs from USA, all 4 of us, ie my wife and 2 kids. Upon arrival around 10:30pm, the reception staff told us that they have NO ROOM for us as they OVERBOOKED. And they they’d try to BOOK ANOTHER HOTEL??? We were frustrated and mad, then 15 min later, room magically appeared. They handed over small table fan and said, all rooms are like this, there’s a heat wave in Norway so keep this fan in the room. Upon arrival in the room, the it was SUFFOCATINGLY hot and the broken window was sealed. Appalled, we went to the reception again and raised the issue—the lady at the reception said “I’ll find another room for you” and now, with another miracle, another room appeared - this time, with ventilation and the working window. It was such a bad experience that we won’t stay in this hotel chain again!

So So Experience
We only stayed one night at this hotel. There were a number of problems with the room and we told the staff about them when we checked out. First we were not able to use the room safe because it had be locked from the previous occupants, so the hotel would have to reset the lock. Second, upon opening the window, which was on the eighth floor, the safety latch was broken. This enabled the window to open completely so that someone could fall out. Third, all the outlets and lights on both sides of the bed were not working. This was not ideal for reading and it made the room very dark. Hopefully the hotel staff fixed these problems before the room was occupied again.
