The Westin Cape Town, Cape Town
The hotel is a very nice facility in a good location. However, the service left a lot to be desired. During check-in they kept making promises that they didn't keep regarding when our room would be ready and we were kept waiting for a long time. Service at the restaurant was spotty - we only ate there at breakfast and it usually took multiple requests just to get a coffee. The folks at the Travel Desk also didn't always follow through - except when it was to charge us for something. The staff at Guest Services were really the only ones that seemed to care about getting something done - we got great service from them! Overall, we had a wonderful time in Cape Town, in spite of some frustrations with the staff at the Westin

Avoid this hotel. Extremely poor service
Check in took forever because they added a second reservation. I had no acknowledgement from hotels .com and my name was misspelled on the 2nd reservation. And they still threatened that I would have to pay for it even though mine was paid in full. Then they gave us a dirty room. Not made up at all. I was told the manager would come to our new room to speak to us which never happened. Extremely poor service for a supposedly full service hotel. Skip this hotel there are plenty of options in the area.

Beautiful hotel and amazing service!
The best part about this hotel is the staff, by far! Everyone has been so welcoming, friendly, and has gone out of their way to make my stay special. I informed the hotel beforehand that I am vegan, and the chef created fresh, original and delicious dishes every evening. Guest relations booked my excursions, and the hair dresser did a fantastic job! My room (Executive) was very spacious, offered great views and the Westin beds are divine.

My bag got stolen while I was sitting in the lobby and The Westin said it was a public stay so claims no fault and is unwilling to make changes. I guess all those security staff members are just there for after the fact. It didn't seem like a big deal to the police and staff, more like a normal occurrence in that area. They should at least let the customers know so we can be more careful or make better-informed decisions.

Good hospitable modern hotel
We have stayed in this hotel 10 years ago and it's a typical Convention style, large, modern, clean and central for most things. They provide excellent transport to all the various hot spots line the V&A Waterfront and Colony Square I believe. They seem to have been refurbishing the rooms and the Top Floor business dining area was undergoing a makeover when we were there. Our breakfast was in the price of our room and a typical one at that with cold and hot foods available and pretty good service. However, neither of us liked their choice of music in the restaurant. Evening bar and dining was good too. I'd like to have seen more detail in the room, i.e. Them ensuring the soap, creams are replenished. Ours kept disappearing once open and on occasion not replaced but that's a minor issue solveable as they would stop by and we could ask for what we needed.
