    About this property

Welcome to Big Yellow Birch Camping. Come pitch your tent on our raised tent platforms, nestled amongst the pine trees overlooking beautiful Eagle Lake. Swim or canoe from the shallow, sandy beach in a quiet, pristine bay. Nap in a hammock. Relax in the wood-fired sauna. Then, round out a perfect day in nature with friends by a campfire under the starry sky. The whole campsite is reserved only for your group, no one else. It’s wild but not isolated. It’s not glamping; just honest, traditional tent camping. The Space 12 people, 4 tent platforms No electricity, no drinking water, no wifi You’ll find your inner Scout on this untouched point of land that has all the basic amenities for a really great camp stay: Located 3 hours north of Toronto, Big Yellow Birch Camping is situated on a peninsula surrounded by a clean, clear Eagle Lake. Down a driveway, away from the main road, the parking area is conveniently located at the base of the camp. There are handy carts to load your gear and make your way to one of 4 tent platforms. Each tent site has a terrific view of the lake, and comes with a large rubbermaid container for overflow stuff. Hammocks swing from the trees nearby. On the tip of the point, Muskoka chairs sit together on the smooth rocks so everyone can gather to toast the sunset. At the heart of the point, around the large campfire, you’ll find 4 sets of tables and benches, quartermasters stocked with pots and pans, and propane cookers. There is a tap of cold creek water for washing up. New, spacious outhouses are down the way. Back past the campfire, a short walk away, you’ll find the wood-fired sauna overlooking the sandy beach. Launch one of 2 canoes for a tour on the water. Or swim out to the floating raft. If you are feeling adventurous, explore the backwoods following markers guiding you on a pretty hike. For a day trip, head across the lake to Mikisew Provincial Park or hike along the “Forgotten Trails” which wind through nearby Algonquin Park. Need a break from nature, or at least a pizza? Down the road about 8 minutes is the Eagle Lake Country Store. They sell ice cream, snacks, burgers, fries, ice wood, boat rentals, gas and miscellanea. A further 10 minutes away in the nearby towns of South River and Sundridge, you’ll find grocery and bulk food stores, a pharmacy, restaurants, LCBO/ Beer store as well as a local craft brewery. Guests are expected to follow check-out instructions at this campsite and leave things litter-free and organized as they found it. All garbage must be left secure in the garbage shed by the parking lot. A fee of $40 will be applied for garbage left as either litter or in garbage cans around the site.
