Fine in a pinch, but not great
I often stay at Best Western hotels...this is the first that I wouldn't go back to. Our room was comfortable and clean. However, (1) this is a dog-friendly hotel with VERY thin walls -- we had barking dogs next door to us two out of three nights. Staff seemed indifferent -- our first morning, one of the dog's owners went to get breakfast at 6:45am, leaving the dog to bark like crazy for nearly 15mins before I went into the hallway in frustration. A staff member was immediately across the hall in the breakfast prep area, totally ignoring the barking dog. When he saw me, he said he thought the owner had gone to get breakfast and he ran off to try and find him. The owner came back shortly after and the dog quieted down, but I can't imagine why a staff member would ignore this problem for so long at such an early hour. (2) We lacked full hot water both mornings of our stay -- there were two of us in the room, and one or the other of us wound up with a lukewarm / cool shower each day. (3) The way the heat/AC works in the rooms, you can either set it to a specific temp and have it go off and on all night to maintain that temp, or set it to fan and it continuously cools the room. We chose the latter because we like the white noise of a fan, with the result that our room was in the FIFTIES both mornings when we woke up...no way to adjust temp to prevent continuous cooling. Given the distance from downtown and the still fairly high cost, I'll stay elsewhere in the future.

This might be an older Hotel, there was a large poorly repaired crack inthe ceiling of our room. One of the queen beds may have been past it's useful date. The room was clean! I notices that the towel rack were hung with different screws (not a real problem just something noticable). The hot tub was hot, it just did not have much jet pressure. The hotel is closer to I 25 than to the plaza, I think that I will stay closer to the plaza next time. Breakfast was not kept well stocked (I did notice that there were many children taking food that they did not eat). The sound of the cars racing up and down Cerrillos until 2 am was bothersome. All in all it si an OK place to stay, better suited to those passing through.

I think I'll pass next time
First of all the cleaning staff did a great job! The room was always clean and fresh! However, one of the things that made our stay not very comfortable was the "day care" size toilet in our bathroom. I'm 5'4" and my knees were close to my chest. You would think for $140 per night Best Western could provide an adult size toilet. Also, either the hotel or the cable provider, "Comcast", blocked one particular channel. All channels on the listing came in perfectly except FOX News. The front desk attendant, Liza, said we shouldn't be watching that anyway (wink wink) and asked if we wanted maintenance to look at it. She did say that the lobby TV allowed FOX News to be broadcast, but that was a different set up than what is supplied to the individual rooms. Also, the hotel Wi-Fi was not working!!

it's a good place to stay
We were a little worried after reading the reviews online but overall we had a great stay. We had a room as soon as we arrived way before checking time. Great service and very nice woman at the front desk. The manager is also very attentive and helpful. We used the pool and the hot tub. Best time to go is when kids are not around which is early to mid afternoon. Breakfast was decent and if one complains about the crowded room which it is during rush hours,, well, take the tray from your room, get what you need and enjoy it in your room. We found the room decor a little dark but overall quiet. We were on the first floor. We noticed that there were dogs in other rooms but they did not bother us. They even brought a microwave which was a real treat as we were not anticipating this high level of sevice. The only problem was the internet. It does not work. If you have enough data, guess you are fine. We would go back again. It's not too close from the center of the city but we are talking about minutes....not hours. Enjoy!

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was on the upscale side of average, but it wasn't well maintained. The gate to the pool was broken, the card readers at the doors worked sporadically, and the room cleaning was atrocious. We found out only after we'd been there a couple of days that there was a breakfast buffet (even though we asked earlier) and that we could use the indoor pool at the Fairfield Inn next door. The room cleaners didn't replace soap etc., didn't clean the bathroom, and didn't clean the room at all the last full day we were there. The room was lacking any information ( e.g. TV guide) and didn't have a refrigerator. One of the room phones didn't work. The location was very good for getting to the interstates.
