High Price; No Value
there were three spiders in the room. Staff said we were in a garden location. Specifically said we were vegetarians - no meat, fish, fowl or eggs or anything containing them. Staff said a dessert was vegetarian. When we received it, we were told it had animal gelatin in it. When we returned it we were charged anyway. We will not stay there again, we will not recommend it to anyone, and if anyone we know is even thinking of staying there, we will strongly advise against it.

Rooms are a bit quirky. Think motel, but upgraded. People were nice, and food in the restaurant was fantastic.

Exceptional 10.0
This is an amazing hotel where everything was perfect. Location is private but very close to the village, the gardens are well maintained and just perfect to admire, walk and relax in. The attention to detail and quality of furniture and soft furnishing is exquisite. The presentation and quality of the food was superb. The most notable feature of this luxurious hotel however is its staff. All were friendly, helpful and polite, especially Dorothy and the lovely lady at breakfast who’s name I forgot to get. I highly recommend this beautiful little garden of England and would intend to return in future.

Lovely Hotel in Great Location
Stayed for 2 nights here mid-week. Room was nice with a good shower over the bath and unlike many hotel rooms had two armchairs - good. Very nice friendly staff everywhere. The dining room is light and extremely nice and overlooks the lovely gardens. The breakfast bar has a large variety of fruits/cereals etc and there is a full menu page of choices for the cooked breakfast, which is cooked fresh, to order. We don't usually dine in hotels restaurants, preferring to find good quality local ones, but we had read good reports about this hotel and so tried evening dinner. It was first class. The king prawn special starters were superb and my filet steak was a generous size, cooked perfectly and my wife's sirloin similarly. The wine list is good and varied and good value at £21- £25 for a good quality one. We had the Fleurie at £23 and the Pinot Noir at £21 - nice. We enjoyed it so much we dined in again on our second night - our venison and lamb mains were excellent again. We were in room 25 downstairs in the large house, separate from the main building (only 25 metres away) overlooking a nice garden. Unfortunately the guests in the room above were walking about upstairs from about 6 am up until 8 am (when they went over for breakfast) and the upstairs floor creaked loudly. We aren't late risers but constant creaking at 6 am was too early for us. Overall a lovely place, nice staff and great location for Bowness front. We would go again but in an upstairs room.
