Decent. Most bang for your buck in the San Francisco area. Cheap and the area is relatively safe

Above adequate.....
We mainly booked this hotel because it advertised a swimming pool. Although the property did have a pool, it was not heated; and the tile decking around the pool became dangerously slippery when wet. (We were not the only guests who complained about the slippery tile.) The room size was large and the staff friendly. The enjoyable complimentary breakfast included many choices.

Bed was comfortable; desk light did not work; TV remote did not work to change the channels on the TV. Alarm clock was not set at the correct time.

Comfortable home away from home
I travel to the area frequently on business and have stayed at all of the hotels in the San Mateo/Belmont/San Carlos area that are in this price range. For me, this is the best buy for your money. All the hotels are competitively priced - if you want something nicer, spend another $50/night and go to Marriott or Hilton. What you get extra here is a swimming pool, coffee in the room, and a real breakfast, not the grab-and-go breakfast at other hotels and there are lots of places to eat nearby. It is an older building, but in good shape and my room has always been clean, and the staff is friendly and always available. The main down side is that the rooms aren't well insulated for sound - fortunately, when I've been there, the neighbors haven't been very noisy. I'll definitely go back.
