History and cultured. Not modern
This hotel is really old it was built in the 1800 so there is a lot of culture and history that comes with staying there. Me being from California not used to this I was was kinda of expecting more modern, but it’s in the heart of the French quarter and everything was In walking distance. The staff was excellent!!! Erick was a phenomenal host very polite very helpful. The room was not bad they even gave us a free upgrade to a balcony room to experience the throwing of the beads to paraders. As I stated earlier me being from California it was a culture shock so if you want modern hotel don’t stay here if you want to be close to everything and be a part of history then this hotel is perfect it’s not bad at all. I would stay here again.

NOLA-The right way
This was my first time in NoLA/my first solo trip. I was skeptical of this place I found it on for a very good rate. When I first got to hotel I was barely greeted by the person working. As we started the check in process she started to warm up even smile/laugh. The room is just as pictured, big enough to accommodate 1/2 ppl. My feeling is a hotel room is just for sleeping/changing clothes/ shower. The room/location was just perfect. Eric and the other young lady not sure if her name (pretty young lady with short blonde hair) was the absolute BEST. One night I came in she was dealing with a drunk guest and she handled the situation really great. Eric was very helpful to all the guest that checked in (I wish he had checked me in) he gave them the history of the hotel and suggestions to eat. The only thing as to why the hotel did not get a 5 star is the shower head is a bit disgusting, you can hear everything from other guest talking /walking. The day I was leaving I did a late checkout so I can sleep before my travels. That didn't happen because from 6am (I feel they had started) some renovation work which entailed drilling/loud banging. When I went to check out I explained to the staff member if I would have known they were doing reno I would not have paid for a late check out. She said oh and just proceeded to check me out. All in all the hotel is a great stay and Eric and the night staff (young lady with blonde hair) made the stay pleasant.

Which wouldn't be a problem, except NO WHERE on the or the hotel's direct website did it indicate that parking my car for 12 hours would cost me $35!!!! THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS to park in an unsecured lot. I understand the extreme parking issues in the French Quarter, which is why I spent a LOT of time looking at parking details for various hotels, from "not available" to "parking costs extra" to "valet parking only." Hotel Royal did say parking MAY be available first come, first served. That's fine. NO WHERE does anything indicate a truly outrageous additional cost. Very angry about it.

Quick trip to New Orleand
Loved the location. Room was small but adequate. The coffee shop across the street was really convenient.
