Needs an overhaul but ok for a night
Reception is huge but not very welcoming, the staff were efficient and competent. My room was a laong walk away through the hotel bar, im glad i only had an overnight bag as getting through the bysy bat would have been difficult with bigger bags. The signage to my room was poor snd the condition of the hotel was run down. The pool and gym are open 8.30am to 6.30pm and there is an additional charge. The room was large and clean and the bed reasonsbly comfy however the windows are very old and i was next to noisey external fans so there was a constant noise in the room all night. The bar staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and the food was a reasonable price and tasty

Disappointed
The hotel is very tired and in need of investment. Service and staff were lovely. But overall the hotel has a feel of everything being done as cheap as possible. It has a general feeling of one trying to survive rather than thrive. I feared why my accommodation was cheap for this hotel however I knew why quite quickly after arrival. I will not be staying again.

Stuck in the 70's DO NOT BOOK
The hotel has to be the most run down place I have stayed in EVER!!! From the reception to the hallways and rooms. Our room had a used handkerchief on the window sill upon arrival, the bathroom floor had not been cleaned and the room carpet was sticky and damp in places. The room decor was tired to say the least. Our room was not cleaned in the 4 days we were there and if I did not insist on new towels then we would have had to use the same towels for the duration.

I stay away often for work and sometimes you get a good one and sometimes a bad This hotel is bad beyond belief. The rooms was unclean and rotten. Stains all over the place Staff are rude and not bothered The photos advertised are nothing like what you turn up to Do not book here

Generally very good
Business travelling. Good size car park. Very generous room and bathroom,good size. Coffee, sugar,tea and milk as amenities. If run out you just have to ask for more at reception. Friendly staff,always eager to help. Only problem is there is no internet in rooms. Even the phone is affected and is almost impossible to make or receive phone calls. There is the hotel broadband in the lobby, good speed and for free. Also as a minus,no fridge in the room. There is a bar and restaurant, friendly staff. Overall, this hotel is a very good one and I always come back in,if businesses require.

Brittania hotel..don't go.
Front desk could not find my reservation. No phone signal at the hotel so had to travel 2 miles to get a signal to call Hotels.com They eventually found my reservation but I expected the worst when I saw the Brittania Hotels sign on the entrance. Can Hotels.com mention on the information page which hotel group a property belongs to? If I had known this was a Brittania Hotel I wouldn't have booked it. I had ordered a double bed but got 2 singles. The room had a fly infestation. I was still killing them on the morning of my departure. I didn't ask to change rooms in case I got something worse plus the receptionist wasn't the friendliest of people. No help whatsoever with my "lost" reservation. No phone signal or data signal in the room or car park. Hotel WiFi is free in public areas like the bar or reception but £7 per day for your room. No cleaning. Cleaning every 4 days. Covid used as an excuse but only enough coffee etc.. for 1 day. I do hope hotels will stop doing this. The real reason is they are not employing enough cleaning staff in order to cut costs since all covid restrictions have been lifted for a long time now. My advice is to avoid this place if possible. I'll be paying a little extra for a real hotel next time with free parking, free WiFi and free breakfast. Also, the room will be cleaned every day.

Sad but tue
The room allocated to me was some distance from reception, not a general issue but having to negotiate the bar was difficult. The room had almost no wifi coverage but this was forgotten quickly due to the sound of the kitchen extract fans which were a close distance to the window. A walk back to reception and a request to change room was met with nothing short of derision from the receptionist, a new room was allocated which was at the opposite end of the hotel resulting in a traipse back through the bar and into the new wing, my new room was on the 3rd floor, not bad if the lift was working, which it wasn't. An enquiry on the gym/pool was made, no chance as it only opens between 0830 and 1730 meaning that contractors can't use the facilities. Overall the hotel is quite dated and in need of refurbishment. never again!

Booked 3 rooms for business, All had various light bulbs not working. Lift was not working for all three days there, great when on top floor. Beds were very hard! Very dated rooms. Food ok ish. Outside tables in needs some tlc. Overall could do with some money being spent updating and upgrading.
