Hidden Treasure Near Union Square
Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our stay and were satisfied w/our room and the service. Honestly this hotel is in a prime location, 3 blocks from Union Square and a plethora of restaurants to suit every palate. What I paid for this room is a steal in SF considering the awesome location. Yes, the hotel is older, probably late 1800's, early 1900's, but it's a charming building. Our room was spacious enough for 2 people and was equipped w/a mini fridge, iron, and hair dryer (you have to request these upon booking). Our bed was very comfortable. There was a t.v., desk, and night stands w/lamps. Both the closet and bathroom were very spacious. Our room had some lovely molding typical of older buildings; it looked and smelled clean. Yes, the carpet and decor is dated, but that doesn't matter because you're getting a fantastic room rate for a hotel in a prime location. The streets leading to Union Square are actually hills and are quite steep, so wear comfortable shoes. The front desk attendants were very nice and accomodating. Breakfast is frm 7-10 a.m. in lobby and only consists of pastries, coffee, hot chocolate etc.. You can buy o.j. for $1.50. There are about 5 tables/chairs you can sit at to eat and watch t.v. in lobby. There are also 2 public computers for your use. The only things that could have been improved are, there was only 1 large bath towel in bathroom, there was hair on the walls, and the white walls/doors were dirty in some areas.

Nothing fancy but clean friendly and safe.
The hotel reminded me of a small European hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nothing fancy, but clean. Several nice restaurants within a blocks walk. A bit off the tourist trail but still a very walkable Area. My room was large and had room for a sitting area but the only chair was a hardback chair at a small desk. The bathroom was updated except for a old shower curtain fixture Which had a curtain that was too short and did not fit well in the tub when in use. A good value for the money.

Roach hotel
We arrived late, that's when we found out the "hotel discount" for parking is an additional $37.20 a day, The man at the desk handed me a check in form with a different price than I paid, it appears there was some kind of scam going on, the price was $34 cheaper on his form. He refused to give me a copy, and then when we went to the room, it was down a creepy hallway, I went into the bathroom to find a roller-derby of roaches in the sink, then the wall. I refused to keep my family in this hotel. Not quite sure where all the "good" reviews came from, but appear to be bogus reviews, unless they were all issued by blind people who have lost their ability to smell too.

I was in town for The San Francisco Marathon and the location was great. It was good to stay in a boutique hotel that had two beds and a private bath. The room rate was excellent and the checkout time, noon, was perfect since our flight was not until 5:30pm. Also, we were able to check in early, I mean real early, 10:20am.

Central location. Hotel a litle worn out. Breakfast sweet cakes, water and coffee. Missing a fridge on the room.
