I got there very early for check in and did not expect to get my room right away, but the immediate response from Ericka was that I would be charged and extra $25 for an early check in. She said this without even checking if a room was available. Then I was told I could check in at 1:00 for no charge but that check in time was 3:00. Noah was very accommodating and helpful at check in and during the duration of my stay he helped with my car, my bag and directions more that once. He is a keeper! I returned a few minutes before 1:00 and was told my room still wasn't ready. Not sure how she knew this because she didn't check anything. I ran to the bathroom and upon my return my room was miraculously ready! Everything from that point on was great at the old historic hotel. There just want a lot of effort made to accommodate and early arrival and there definitely wasn't much consideration for the customer service aspect.

Wouldn't stay there again, nor recommend it
Hotel is a historic building, but not in a good way. Paper thin walls, noisy guests yelling in the halls and a serious ventilation problem in my room. I must have been about the restaurant kitchen as my room smelled like grilled meat, with the exception of Sunday night when the restaurant was closed. My clean clothes in my suitcase smelled like I went to a club when I put them on :(

Convenient and clean hotel
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was excellent. The building was interesting with many historic elements. I was surprised when someone from an adjacent room flushed their toilet and my shower water temperature increased several degrees! We could also hear folks from adjacent rooms talking through the vent. The location was fabulous! We parked our car and walked everywhere--food, entertainment, etc. I would definitely stay here again.

Historical hotel
The hotel was built in 1928 and was the residents of many early movie stars, notably Mae West and Clark Gable, who have their rooms identified. My hotel room had decades-old bathroom fixtures, a shower but no bath and no thermostat (I was somewhat cold). The hotel emphasizes its historical significance. There is a modest, but adequately equipped 24/7 fitness center. Nearby shopping is modest.
