I had specifically requested a room on the ground floor. We can not handle stairs. We were given a room on the second floor and there is no elevator. To get a ground floor room the clerk demanded $40. The room had no remote control for the TV. Would never stay here again

Dump
Bad bed, smoke from room below, hookers in and out throughout the night. Lousy breakfast. Then they tried to rip off hotels.com by claiming I didn't stay there, so they did not have to pay commission. Awful.

Terrific staff contends with multiple challenges
Stayed in "Deluxe" room overlooking the harbor/bay/estuary. Hotel is older-1950's vintage. Quiet location between two small yacht clubs. Staff is a highlight of this hotel-Carmina is a gem. Deluxe rooms have sitting porches, flat screens, nicely upgraded bathrooms, and comfortable beds. That said, coffeemaker in room had to be moved to the bathroom to find a three prong plug that would accept it. Phone in room 20 years old, stained and dirty, did not work-could not dial the front desk. In room safe not working. Paint peeling on all the doors to rooms. Doors need closers as they slam shut. We had neighbors in and out at 2-3 am ....it sounded like a semi hitting the wall. Continental breakfast is a joke...hot food put out at 6 am (toaster waffles, hard boil eggs, bacon and sausage) and left to grow cold and greasy as no food warmers. A few cold cereals, juice, coffee, bagels....worst representation of breakfast ever at a hotel. Concrete surfaces around hotel need pressure wash-filthy stains. Outside stairwells need better lighting-narrow treads, steep incline, poorly lit-obvious tripping hazard. Extension cord in room with multi-plug end is illegal-fire hazard. Table lamps need brighter bulbs and dusting...tightened loose bulb-hand covered by dust. Deluxe room was nicely decorated, great views across water, comfortable beds, nice bathroom. Relaxing setting...this place could be a gem with attn. to detail and commitment to the project. Owner is lucky to have good staff.
