1st Stay After Earthquake Rennovations
I’ve stayed here many times, but this was my first stay after it reopened following renovation after the September 2017 earthquake. The good: updated bathroom (gone are the often broken spa tubs and replaced with walk in showers, new tile, and stylish fixtures); fresh paint throughout; new light fixtures, and new beds, linens, and towels. In process: construction is ongoing so you may hear some noise; there were no smoke detectors or desk chair in my room, the main elevator was out of order (used service elevator), and staffing appeared reduced. The same: some of their great staff remain after the eight months the hotel was closed. The “bones” of the building are the same and will be familiar to previous guests. The refresh was overdue and is a welcome update. Unfortunately, the old, slow WiFi remains and was not upgraded.
