A pretentious, expensive hotel w/ no quality
First the good. Nice area. Good location. Food in the restaurant is expensive but good. Now to the bad. I decided to splurge on a Veterans Day getaway to DC. From the start, I was a little taken aback by the non friendliness of the front desk and the fact that there was an empty plate of cookies waiting even though we checked in right at 3. When you stay at a nice hotel, you expect them to go the extra mile. Oh well, no cookies. Then we were sent to the dungeon -- I mean, the basement, and put into a room that was the size of the miniature bed that was in it, plus about two feet on each side. By the way, the elevator was slow and packed so we took the stairs, but we were held up by a wedding party taking pictures. The ice machine on our floor was broken (nice hotel, right), but hubby couldn't get ice on the next floor because of wedding party, so went up to the third floor. So much for a nice hotel that goes the extra mile. Once we settled into our room, we were treated to the rumbling of a train every 15 minutes that shook the walls. Then, the music started for the wedding party - thump, thump, thump for the next four hours. Didn't end until after 11 p.m. When we went to get coffee the next morning (bright and early since we didn't sleep and wanted to get the hell out of there), there was no cream and there were no tops for coffee cups. I have literally stayed at $70/night hotels with better service. I would rank the top worst hotel i have ever stayed in.

Got a room on the first floor, which is really a basement. Had no window. The room was dirty and the hallway smelled. In addition the restaurant was closed for breakfast.

Unless You’re a Smurf, Stay Somewhere Else.
Although assured by the front desk staff that the room was exceptional with a “great view” it was actiky a glorified broom closet. Could barely walk in it. Foot of the bed was about a foot from the opposite wall. Crappiest room we’ve ever stayed in Had to shimmy sideways to walk by and we’re both thin to begin with!

Great Historic building, small room
It was a nice room in a very beautiful building. The room was quite small in my opinion though.
