Great location
I really want to love this hotel, but im 50/50. I love the remodel in the lobby and vibe of this hotel. My room was a great size for the price. But, it is an old building. The pipes, neighbors, outside noise made it really hard to sleep. You can hear everything! The location is great and the workers are so friendly.

Wonderful Historic Hotel with a Great Staff
Great customer service, arrived early to drop off bags for them to hold, I was offered an upgraded room - for a small price (they are renovating the rooms, mine was brand new!) and I was able to check-in at 1030am - again, for a price, but it was not too much for the convenience. They are renovating, so there is much noise between 8am - 5pm, but the newly renovated rooms are very nice - the old rooms looked fine as well. A little over a block to the B or D subway line, which will get you just about everywhere in NYC directly or with a quick transfer. You are just about in Chinatown, but plenty of other dining options around as well. Basically by accident went to the Randolph(next door) for late night meal - great beer selection and the pretzel was good. Black Seed bagel down the street for bagel and coffee. The hotel offers coffee and tea in the lobby during most of the day. Refreshing lemon water also available. The hotel is historic and they say it has been a hotel of some sort since the early 1800's - I mention this because it means there is no ELEVATOR. I do not mine, but if you have mobility issues there are stairs everywhere. No phone in the room, no alarm clock - they are going with today's technology - interactive TV that controls room features, you can text the Front Desk, etc. Great customer service - I thought I lost my license on the subway, came back to the room and it was waiting for me on the desk - propped up so I would see it - they had found it!

Great for a short stay!
The sohotel has a great option for families of 5- there is a family room with 2 queen beds and a single bed. The room was a good size, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but nicely decorated. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. It rained one morning and we borrowed umbrellas from the hotel. The bellman were great help in getting cabs for us and helping with bags. This location is central to everything. There are two subway lines close by and you can access many sites this way. We used cabs too, which took 20-30 minutes in traffic to get uptown or downtown. Check out Mulberry Street for great restaurants and shops!
