About Villa Royale, Paris

A romantic neo-Baroque spin on red-light Pigalle

Bonjour, Pigalle
Neo-Baroque Villa Royale is in the heart of neon-lit Pigalle, where seedy late-night bars sit alongside live music venues and cabarets. Artsy Montmartre, with its village-like atmosphere and Sacré-Coeur Basilica, is just up the hill.

Stroll down to culture
You can walk 10 minutes downhill to Gustave Moreau Museum to see the artist's colorful Symbolist paintings. Walk another 10 minutes and you'll reach the department store mecca of Boulevard Haussmann. Pigalle Metro Station is right outside, whisking you to other parts of Paris.

Bordello chic
In a fanciful building overlooking Place Pigalle, Villa Royale plays up its seedy location – home to many adult shops – with a fabulously over-the-top take on bordello chic. Cozy bedrooms and a neo-Baroque boudoir-style lounge make it particularly prized for a romantic break.

What's in a name
Guestrooms are awash with red velvets and satins, swags and gilt, except for Michou – named after the legendary drag show host – which comes in his trademark blue. You'll have free WiFi and a minibar, and digital TV in all rooms, and some rooms have balconies.

Villa Royale, Paris
kitschy chic
A great location, I guess you could call the hotel kitschy chic, certainly worn around the edges but comfortable. I did not get a room with a view so I cannot describe the wonderful view their website describes. All in all, pretty good value. My only real complaint was the free internet was incredibly slow and unreliable, which was a bit of problem as I needed to do some quick business as well as check in for a flight. Those supposed simple tasks took way too long (not to mention frustrating), stealing time from me exploring the area.

On the edge of the red light district.
Nice hotel, great service, but unfortunate location. Would not stay here again.

Nice hotel, poor lighting in the room but clean, close to the metro. Its right by Moulin Rouge which also means its surrounded by strip clubs and adult toy stores, not and ideal location for young children but an amusing place to stay for us (couple in our 20s)

Air coditioner not working
Actually the air conditioner was not working, they said it was fixed next day, but it didn't, after some discussion with the receptionist they decided to move to another hotel from the same group. The other one was okay.
