I was here for a weekend trip visiting old friends. The hotel was directly across the street from a park, very convenient for surrounding restaurants. No frills but enough to become my go to hotel for future visitations.

Excellent staff, very clean room!

The staff was exemplary. My room was very comfortable, plenty space, especially the bathroom. Extremely clean, too...and I'm pretty fanatical about cleanliness! Bed was decent and shhets extra soft. Overall, well worth the cost, and I've stayed in plenty of Fairmont resorts all over the globe but this was a great budget hotel for a quick overnight.

Hotel dated but clean

It was okay. The room was dated but clean. I had a beautiful view of the Capital Building and park, across the street. Walked my dogs there. It was a bit sad though, many homeless people. Hotel parking was full when i arrived. But, the hotel has an agreement with the lot owner adjoining their building. "Air garage " The parking lot has a lot of glass, I was concerned my dogs would slice the pads of their feet. And, the smell of urine was very strong. I didn't feel very comfortable there. The lobby staff very very nice and knowledgeable. Even though i liked the staff, i wont be returning to The Capital Hotel again.

Room with a view of the Capitol

We loved our room with a view of the lovely 19th C. Capitol building and a snowy Bushnell Park. The hotel is conveniently located for Amtrak travelers & walkable to everything in downtown Hartford. Check out Hartford Stage & the Wadsworth Atheneum if you come to Hartford—both a short walk from the hotel. Also very close: Black Eyed Sally’s Southern Kitchen.

The location was right next to train and major bus route which made things noisy. The area felt a bit unsafe and the whole hotel felt dated and neglected.

Overall not horrible, but pick somewhere else

Over priced compared to surrounding hotels for what we got. The beds and pillows were hard, NO soundproofing and the windows were so thin it sounded like they were open. Had to pay for parking in the absolute worst tiny one lane underground parking. Getting into a spot took me 10 minutes with all the maneuvering I had to do to avoid the poles, and getting out isn't much easier since you risk side swiping the same poles

Nice for a night

We needed an overnight stay for a wedding. The check in was easy, the room extremely clean. We only stayed the one night but the beds were comfortable. The tv worked fine and check out was easy least. I would definitely stay here again
