Terrible, just terrible!
Here's my Top 5 reasons why: 1. First room we were offered was in the basement which is only acceptable by a flight of stairs (not going to work while carrying heavy luggage). 2. Broken shower wand which kept sliding down (not ideal, but temporarily fixed it by wedging a wet washcloth between the wand and the wall). 3. Hallway in "New York" wing smelled of mold. 4. Not enough towels on Day 1 (only given 2, room service was able to bring more). 5. My major complaint! Our room was never cleaned!! Called front desk to at least get fresh towels, shampoo, soap, etc... waited 20 minutes... nothing... called AGAIN... waited 15 more minutes and was about to just walk to the front desk when a grumpy old man arrived with towels and 5 mini bars of soap (still no shampoo)... I gave up. Bonus update of terribleness: 6. The mysterious fire alarm at 5:15am. Wake up with the shock of adrenaline from the ear piercing alarm. March whole family to the lobby to find only 3 other guests and no one at the front desk. Phone at said front desk is ringing off the hook. Finally a hotel staff member emerges from a backroom after another guest shames him into coming out. No apology, but he said it's safe to return to our room. Get back to room to watch fire truck arrive onsite. Still wondering what happened to A. Trigger the fire alarm. B. Cause only 3 other guests to actually evacuate (were there only 3 guests in the entire giant Crown Plaza Hotel tonight? Seems doubtful).

The Twilight Zone
We stayed here on our way home from Hershey and arrived at 9 pm with our two kids in tow. Our room was not ready and was being cleaned but I was told it would be done in 20 minutes. In 20 minutes I was told the housekeeper was "just making the beds". I noticed several other guests complaining about waiting for a room and the front desk ladies were rather frazzled. Finally about 45 minutes after arriving we had a room. When we got there we realized we had no towels at all! After the third call to the front desk someone finally picked up and another 30 minutes later we got our towels. The following morning at 8:15 am housekeeping knocked on our door just to see if we had checked out yet?? We were given free breakfast passes for waiting but decided to eat somewhere else because everything had been such a cluster! My kids liked the pool though!

The hotel was beautiful, and very clean. There was a pool, which I didn't notice until I walked around the hotel- which you could not smell the chlorine at all. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. In front of the hotel, the main street is filled with restaurants, and places to shop.

Cannot wait to go back to Crowne Plaza in Reading.
We were in town for the Berks Jazz Fest. By staying at Crowne Plaza we eliminated the stress of driving and parking. All of our shows were there. The staff was over the top. They made us feel comfortable as they were so courteous and eager to please. We will always choose the Crowne Plaza in Reading!
