Hotel The Exchange, Amsterdam
Cute, but spendy, in the middle of Amsterdam
The Exchange is centrally located...close to Central Station, close to the Red Light district, etc., but that also means that it's in a very busy area with lots of foot traffic. Regardless, the room was cute, clean, and quiet. The main downside for me was the price...over $300 euros per night! But they're selling both their central location and the "boutique hotel experience", I guess.

Not worth it.
Our room (#434) was called the "Accessories" room. It was very tiny, especially for 2 people. One side of the bed was shoved against the window with only a small space to pass on the free side. No closet; just 3 hooks with 1 hanger on each hook. There were no fashion-related decorations: not even any decorations at all. No art on the walls. Not a poster. There were curtains that did not match or complement anything. Accessories Room had no accessories at all. We paid US$234. Not worth it.

Give it a miss
I would hate for others to make the same mistake that I did. We paid $172 for a room that was “a two star room”. We had no idea we were spending that much money for a room that really was really about a two star quality. There was not even room to open our two suitcases on the floor. All the photos on hotels website look much much better than the room we were given. There is nothing that states we booked a two star room. I was able to speak to the manager and they could upgrade us to what they called a five star room for an additional $70. I would say that was a 3+*room at the very most. I would advise not to book this hotel when there are so many other choices at comparable prices in the area.

Good location
Be careful on requests. They do not “guarantee “. Things like double rooms?
