The exterior of the hotel needs some work (pictures were from some time ago). The reception was OK. Staff did their best with what they have (not much). No HEAT for the first 24 hours then poor heat for the second 24 hours. Changed rooms only after we (8 rooms) made a big scene in the reception area. Breakfast was well... hmmm.. BASIC... four days of the same thing was a bit much. Choice was well BASIC. Buffet breakfast and no other choice. Pool was not clear any of the 4 days we were there. Lobby toilet was not working for the entire stay. Hallways smelt of wet/old carpet.

Apollo for business stay
The hotel is clean. Bed comfortable. Food and restaurant service was good. The greeter at the morning buffet was so happy and kind. He made me smile. Only downside is the wifi worked fine in the restaurants and bar, but not in my hotel room.

Apollo-Friendly Staff and Great Food
I stay at the Apollo a few times a year for business when I travel to Basingstoke. I think it is a very warm and friendly hotel. I love The Library with the leather chairs and fireplace. It's a nice place to hang out when traveling alone. The staff is very warm and service is excellent. I have eaten in the three venues and think the food is very good. Favorites are the cajun chicken, soups, eton mess, and salads. Rooms are minimalistic but clean. Bed is comfortable. I've stayed there so often, it feels like a home away from home.

Older Hotel that needs better maintenance program
Have stayed at the location in the past. An older hotel that appears very nice in the lobby and bar area but lacks updating and maintenance in the rooms. During my recent stay we had several issues with plumbing, bedding, bathroom fan and internet usage. First morning we had boiling hot water in the shower only (no cold water and was told of a maintenance problem they were experiencing) the vent in the bathroom was not working (which turned the bathroom into a sauna after shower) and the toilet would not flush without priming the lever many times. Could feel the bed springs in your back from the mattress. I addressed all the issues with the General Manager after they had 24 hrs to resolve the problems and they did not. Only solution given by General Manager was to move to a different room on the last night of stay. Not a satisfactory solution to us. Was also told that they were having a problem with their internet Wi-Fi as well (could not connect with internet from our room). We were visiting family out of the country so internet was very important for communication back home. Considering that we were only in our room only 8-10 hrs a day on our visit we expected a better overall experience.
