Whilst the hotel and rooms are fine, the food is rubbish. I paid £15 for a burger that was a few chips and a cheap burger on a plate. There was no side salad, sauce or coleslaw so it looked very sparse. I would stay again but wouldn't have the food.

The exterior of the hotel needs some work (pictures were from some time ago). The reception was OK. Staff did their best with what they have (not much). No HEAT for the first 24 hours then poor heat for the second 24 hours. Changed rooms only after we (8 rooms) made a big scene in the reception area. Breakfast was well... hmmm.. BASIC... four days of the same thing was a bit much. Choice was well BASIC. Buffet breakfast and no other choice. Pool was not clear any of the 4 days we were there. Lobby toilet was not working for the entire stay. Hallways smelt of wet/old carpet.

Apollo for business stay
The hotel is clean. Bed comfortable. Food and restaurant service was good. The greeter at the morning buffet was so happy and kind. He made me smile. Only downside is the wifi worked fine in the restaurants and bar, but not in my hotel room.

Apollo-Friendly Staff and Great Food
I stay at the Apollo a few times a year for business when I travel to Basingstoke. I think it is a very warm and friendly hotel. I love The Library with the leather chairs and fireplace. It's a nice place to hang out when traveling alone. The staff is very warm and service is excellent. I have eaten in the three venues and think the food is very good. Favorites are the cajun chicken, soups, eton mess, and salads. Rooms are minimalistic but clean. Bed is comfortable. I've stayed there so often, it feels like a home away from home.

A short walk from the train station. Great breakfast. I was on the ground floor, a little noisy but that may have been bad luck. Small SPA facilities on site including swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi aren’t advertised very well but well worth a visit to unwind (free for guests). Would recommend.
