Hotel at a minimum needs some basic repairs but really needs to be upgraded.

Great Location - Creepy Appearance
The location is fantastic, but the hotel itself is run down and creepy. From the outside, it looks awful (and I definitely wouldn’t use the pool). The inside rooms are clean though, and there isn’t a lot of outside noise. One thing to note is that the showers also have no ventilation, which makes the whole room damp and muggy when you shower (seems like a mold hazard?). What makes it is the location - a lot of great places are walkable and everything else is a quick drive. There was also a day when the maid never came. Would stay again, but know what you’re getting into.

At check in we were not informed of the water issue. One bed was broken. Bugs on floor and floor board coming off. My friend stepped on nail because of floor board. I was also told I could not pay for my friends room because it wasn’t in my name even though he was stnding right beside me and I was the one who booked it. Ridiculous.

local but not nice
checked in late night. night staff did not tell us the water was undrinkable due to the flooding. we drank the water to brush teeth, take vitamins, etc... when we wanted to check in the second night for an additional room there was confusion between day staff and evening staff on protocol for registered guests and who can pay for the room. In addition the room was 'broken' toilet seat, floor boards, the restroom literally looked like someone spit or dumped something all over the wall. Even a squeeky broken bed so sad for a VIP SUITE

Not worth the price
I was in Austin to attend the 2018 Texas Book Festival. I thought it would be nice to stay near the festival grounds, so we could just walked to and from the festival. While the location of this establishment was within walking distance, it was not at all worth it. I guess a Super 8 is just a Super 8 even if you pay a ridiculous amount of money. The area was a bit shady, the bedding and rooms were dirty and smelled of stale cigarette smoke, and guests were being so loud with a yappy dog. The free breakfast was pitiful, unless you just want waffles. While I know that there was a water issue in Austin during our stay, that doesn't mean that you can't provide your guests with bottled juice, water, or other beverages. Overall, it was not worth the money we paid for the convenience of being close to the event we attended. I won't make that mistake next time.
