Historic hotel expectations
As an historic landmark hotel, it is very quaint, clean and pleasant place to stay. It is very artistically and creativity decorated in line with its historic story. Upon room assignment, there was no bathtub--only a shower, however, the front desk changed our room to one with a bathtub without question. The towels were fairly rough and there is little to no room in the bathroom to place your usual toiletries ect. as you prepare for the day. The hotel only has one elevator to which you must walk up about 6 or 7 stairs to get to. Then, the elevator needs and employee to activate it. You can ring a bell for the employee. The employee is fairly quick but this doesn't always work the way you want it to. It would be better if they had an elevator where you could push a button for operation. Sometimes, I and others gave up and used the stairs rather than wait. The hotel has a great location to the heart of town. The food is good too and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we were charged almost 200% more than the usual rack rate due to a holiday and because of it was a special occasion at a very premium rate, we expected a bit more than we received. Otherwise, T would recommend this hotel.

A Little Piece of the Community
Staying at the Hassayampa Inn was a great experience overall. To begin, they were happy to give us weary travelers an early check in and though I’d booked it within 20 minutes of arriving, they did what they could to get us in right away. The building itself is beautiful and packed with antiques provided by local collectors and gives off the air of traveling back to the 1920s/30s. The building is a historical building of Prescott and was originally a community house. The idea of being a community house has never left as one could hang out in the lobby or the patio and locals would come and go and converse with the tourists about the city and whatnot. For me, personally, the patio was my favourite place to hang out and read in the cool breeze of the late afternoon and evening. However, whilst there were some issues with the cleanliness (found some old pretzels under a desk in the room) and my dad’s back couldn’t take the mattress, I would absolutely recommend this stay.

Exceptional 10.0
The Hassayampa Inn is strategically located so you can enjoy the historic district in Prescott without driving. It is built on the side of a hill so it has many levels; something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the Peacock Room was excellent, as was the atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay.

Good time in Prescott.
The hotel is quite classic. My room was small but quite comfortable. The lobby and dining area harken back to hotels of old. The elevator requires a staff member to take you from floor to floor. Parking is across the street but easy walk to the hotel entrance. From the hotel, Whiskey Row is about one short block away. There was entertainment in the lounge in the evening.

Too Antique for Oldsters
Had we realized what an antique this hotel is, we would have chosen another. While its appearance and ambiance are charming, the rooms are too small. No desk for a laptop computer, no counter or shelf space in the bathroom. All the stairs were quite a strain for my arthritic wife (and stairs were involved in going almost anywhere in the hotel, as it's built on a hill) . The staff were very friendly and helpful, but aside from operating the old-time elevator they could do nothing about the inherent structural difficulties. If the problems I have mentioned do not bother you, then by all means enjoy your stay. Otherwise, you are forewarned.
