Well located but with a few wrinkles
Palazzo Schiavoni was conveniently located near San Marco and comfortable for our 3 nights. The bedroom and living area were clean and well kept, but the bed and couch were uncomfortable, both being overly firm, and oddly, the couch cushions kept sliding out when sat upon. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of towels, soap and toilet paper. The shower was a little small, but the water pressure and temperature were good. The heating worked well, as did the wifi. The breakfast area and service were pleasant but the food was terrible with coffee that tasted freeze-dried, and stale croissants. Just a block down the street, however, was a wonderful cafe that served excellent coffee and fresh pastries of all sorts. The concierge of Palazzo Schiavoni was efficient and helpful, providing a map and directions readily. Check in and out were quick and easy. Getting to and from the train station was the difficult part. Walking with our carryons took over 2 hours as we stopped to check our maps every few feet and take photos. On the way back, it took about 35 min. following the Nuovo Strada. All in all, the Palazzo, while very convenient to many of Venice's finest attractions, was not as comfortable as it could have been. A simple mattress topper, fresh breakfast, and stable couch cushions would have made for a much better stay.

Period residence with modern conveniences
This is not a "proper" hotel, it is a period building, dating back to the 15th century, renovated with a lift, 5-6 rooms with reception & breakfast room on the 2nd floor and apartments on two other floors. Easily accessible from the airport, water buses stops 6-10 minutes walk and if you have some spare change a water taxi can drop you off just outside the front door. Room was large, clean with an amazing painted ceiling, air condition was good but the remote control for regulating temperature was available only at the reception. Nasir at the reception was super nice and very helpful with recommendations on restaurants and transport, breakfast was European and after coming off a cruise seemed rather insufficient. Great location for discovering Venice, plenty of restaurants, cafes & shops.

OK, but could benefit from some work.
First room we got was disappointing - very small and on the top floor and lift was not working so we had to carry bags up approx. 8 lots of stairs. We changed to a lower and much larger room with much better bathroom for the last 2 days. Hotel is in a good area - a little away from the bustle of the tourists. Great little restaurant Da Denis nearby.

Enjoyed our stay because 2 people made it great
The two Male desk clerks were very very good, helpful with information, suggesting places to eat, told us a grocer that was over the bridge, We can't say enough about them, they made our stay in Venezia a better experience, not so much the Italian Lady who was at the desk the morning we left June 8th, criticized the other clerk the way he was doing things in from of guest us (not very professional) we could see the embarrassed look in his face ,apart from that we enjoyed our stay in the hotel very quiet and restful after a day of site seeing.
