Great hotel if you don't need to be downtown.
Great hotel. I travel to Stavanger regularly, and the Scandic Forum is becoming my regular hotel. It's not downtown, but it's right by the lake for good running and walking and is convenient to the university. The hotel is quite nice, and the 21st flood restaurant/bar has great views. It's quieter than the downtown hotels, expect on weekends when it can be overrun with kids coming for hockey games at the ice center next door.

Stayed for two nights during a two week road trip through Scandinavia. This was our best hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable bed, some English channels on the tv, and a great breakfast was included on the top floor at their restaurant. We stayed after hiking up to Preikestolen so we were exhausted and it was a great place to relax for the evening. They did not have a parking lot, but this is not uncommon and they had a very close parking garage that was reasonably priced. Also, the man working the front desk was very helpful when we asked him for dinner recommendations. Overall, a great hotel.

Convenient and quiet
It's not downtown but very conveniently located on the min bus routes for the city as well as for the airport. It's probably quieter than the dowtown location and you can't beat the view! Good food at the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner.
