Typical older hotel room.

The hotel is fine and close to the train station. Colosseum is walking distance but it is not close to the Vatican. Only complaint is that the hotel had "air conditioning" but it did not cool off the room at all, which was especially bothersome as it was over 100 degrees during our stay.

Good and bad
The hotel has a policy that the room key may never leave the premises. I had to give the key back to the front desk before going anywhere. The hotel also does not use a key card, but an old fashioned key connected to a card slot for electricity in the hotel room. There is no real outside noise so the room was quiet. The bed with box springs, however, hurt my back a lot and I had back pain the next day. I also saw a woman get robbed right on the same street as the hotel so perhaps the neighborhood isn't that safe for tourists, but it is near the train/bus station so that's a good thing. There are also convenience stores that open in the evening. I saw a homeless man faint on the street because it was so hot outside. The staff wasn't too friendly, but cordial. Initially, a staff member specifically told us that we cannot adjust the air conditioning ourselves. We would have to call the front desk, but the phone in the bedroom was broken. The next day, they somehow changed the phone even though we didn't complain, but we could not dial reception anymore. The next staff member surprisingly said that we can adjust the air conditioning ourselves instead of calling him. Breakfast at the hotel isn't that special and I didn't eat too much of it. The milk tasted funny to me. We paid the mandatory tax upon check out.

Accommodation close to train station
Very friendly staff and helpful. Close to Termini Train station. Not a brilliant neighborhood. Breakfast wasn't great compare to similar hotels in Italy. Rooms were clean.

better service than Rome usually delivers
attentive service considering the area. room spacious, but space wasted by bulky furniture, poor bed placement and poor bath placement. bathroom also wastes space with everything in the wrong place, massive sink with no counter and a bidet. tiniest shower EVER is in alcove where toilet should be. massive sink in alcove where shower should be. toilet and bidet in massive alcove where sink and counter should be. If they want a bidet, install a TOTO mechanized bidet toilet seat and eliminate the extra stand alone fixture! high ceilings, cold blue tiles on floor, nice chair in window alcove. heater remote control needed service, but worked. energy savings via room key in holder or else power goes out (so people don't leave everything on while out). front desk wants room key when you go out, but doesn't check ID when you ask for room number/key again. no phone instructions how to call front desk, it's 9. not 0. New management, New fast WiFi. not a bad place, has potential. just like the rest of Italian efficiency and organization.
