Great hotel
Lovely room in lovely location. Staff were friendly and the room was spotless - just a shame the lift was broken and we were staying in the fourth floor!

A real old fashioned quirky rambling hotel. A little tired in places, but charming and staffed by really friendly and attentive people

Nice stay but extra charges annoying
Nice room and good location. Our one complaint was that, we paid for breakfast included (paid ~£200 for 2 guests for 1 night) although lots of items actually came with extra charges which was a little annoying (e.g. basic eggs on toast included, eggs Benedict or with salmon etc added a surcharge). We were also only allowed one breakfast 'main', however fruit counts as a main, as do eggs on toast so very limited compared to a normal buffet style breakfast. Considering this was not a cheap cost per night I felt this was unnecessarily tight.

Disappointed
Very disappointing from start to finish. Reception staff not welcoming; no servicing of the rooms; dirty cups left overnight and we had to ask for new cups and fresh tea bags. Breakfast minimal and unattractive and added costs for extra items; everything seemed to reduce the pleasure of dining and keep the customers from asking for extra items such as apple juice. Not likely to return ever again.
